Mark Richt is UM's new head coach

Dont know why everyone has a problem with the game attendance. This has always been a problem with the new venue.  Regardless, I believe it would only impact recruting which has not been a problem in the past. Randy Shannon had the #1 recruting class back in 08 and 29-22 record with those players. IMO we've just been strung with three BAD coaches since Davis left.

Win and the stadium problem will work itself out. Doak will be their home away from home. They can flood out the swamp too, if UF grows a pair and puts them back on their schedule!

Canes fans are so cute.

I still can't find the contract numbers.  I know Lake stated them earlier, but I'm pretty sure that is his contract from Georgia.  Maybe Miami just copied it word for word, but that would be odd.  Besides, should be able to get a little discount since Georgia is offering to still pay him $4 mil.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Total madness that a Div 1 coach playing in the hardest conference in the US and averages 10 wins a season is not just on the bubble but is let go.

Richt and eventually Les Miles.

Not even slightly mad. Richt should have been let go at UGA years ago. UGA had a hard time cutting the cord, because he's a good man and likeable. The SEC East has been down for years and Richt was not able to capitalize, despite being in one of the most talent rich areas in the country. In the past 7 years UGA has gone 8-5, 6-7, 10-4, 12-2, 8-5, 10-3, and  9-3. That is not acceptable at Georgia. With access to talent in Atlanta, resources at UGA, and the recent struggles of Florida and Tennessee; Richt should have had them rolling.

His success at Miami will depend on how good of a staff he puts together imo. Miami has been cheap with assistants recently, and need a strong staff if they want to get back.

Pretty much. After 15 years, it was just time for them to move on. Halle Berry didn't become instant trash when David Justice left her.  In Miami's current situation, Halle Berry became available on Sunday, the Canes pounced and swiftly closed the deal.

Not to mention that since the Gators last title in 2008, the East has been very mediocre. And Georgia has only won it twice. They have lost games they have no business losing. Last year's game against Florida was a great example. He can recruit good players but that has not been the issue at Miami.

UGA lost to Treon Harris twice.  That is cause enough for termination.

"Most talent rich areas"

You can say that about any US metro area with universities nearby. It's clear that expectations exceed capability. *Everyone* can't be #1.

It's gotten out of control, the pressure on coaches to produce revenue, and lets face it, it is about the dough, has reached crazy proportions.

The combined income of these Div 1 football coaches is beginning to exceed the GNP of 3rd world countries.

I hate more regs, but perhaps the NCAA needs to cap head coach and assistant salaries. The priorities are in the wrong place.

Good luck with that.  Miami has won 4 times in Tallahassee in the last 12 trips (going back to 1993).  FSU has won 7 times starting in 1994.

Really? Twice? To Treon Harris?  And who was head coach?  Mark Richt.  Lake, you sure you want this guy?

Miami has problems that run way deeper than poor coaching ... This year they got beat worse than any two losses in history,

by Clemson and North Carolina. 58-0  and 59-21. Some of that IS on the coaches but a lot of it is on the players.  They quit.

On themselves AND their fans. Not sure Mark Richt can fix that. He should have taken a year off and spent some of the $20-30 million he

has made in Athens the last 15 years.

LOL, since a random year like 1994? Interesting since that's around the same time Miami went on probation for the first time. Start counting those statistics when the opponent is down!

Why take a year off when you can go home and get an extra $4 million on top of the $4 million Georgia still owes?  Turn that $20-30 into $30-$40. Plus take advantage of what may be the ACC's best QB in your first year. Add to the fact that you may have the most talented team in a horrible ACC Coastal (still went 8-4 despite some pretty bad losses) and the conversation ends up being...why not?  A one or two win improvement next year, pretty much gets him in the ACC championship game, and at that point anything can happen.

Wow.  This is stunningly biased.  "Best QB in ACC"?  That is so clearly Watson.  Heck, Kaaya isn't even the best QB in the Coastal.  Way to dismiss UNC, who should be undefeated, and who will be returning almost whole team next year.

^I did say "what may be" the best. You can't leave those three key words out. Oh and yes. I do believe UM is just as talented as UNC. They are a lot closer than that score indicated.
