As a courtesy I left out New Mexico State (1-7). A quality win.

Lol. Including New Mexico St, UF's opponents' combined record is like 7 or 8 games over .500, rather than 13 games below. RPI's strength of schedule rankings has UF at 39 and FSU 141. As usual, I do not claim that this proves UF is better than FSU this year, I just find it silly that you'd attempt to present this as a weakness given the Noles' situation.

MusicMan

"Given the Noles situation."

Yea, it sucks to win 37 out of your last 40 games.

"– Let's give a round of applause for what Jimbo Fisher has built at Florida State. The 'Noles 46-4 mark over their last 50 games is two games better than Alabama, three better than Oregon and five better than Ohio State."

You wanna post the Gators record over their last 50 games, please;)

I expect this kind of thing helps achieving those impressive numbers:

Quote

Texas St 2-6
USF 4-4
BC 3-6
Wake Forest 3-6
Miami 5-3
Louisville 4-4
L Ga Tech 3-6
Syracuse 3-5

Sure, Gators are 32-18 over the last 50. No idea why that's relevant to my comment about how it's ridiculous for you to bring up this year's strength of schedule as a knock on the gators...

If you are expecting rational commentary from me this time of year you will be sadly disappointed :)

My opinion:  SEC overrated in general. Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and Georgia, Auburn, Miss State  are average teams.

I reserve the right to be wrong about that. Best team in SEC are BAMA and LSU. OLE MISS Good not great. Gators Good not Great.

Seminoles are TBA. 2 huge road games ahead of them that will tell us a lot about this group. I think they can win both. I care more that they

play well than if they win. BUT I WANT THEM TO WIN. That is what was so disappointing abut Ga Tech. They played like crap.

The SEC may be overrated this season. But there is little doubt it tends to be one of the stronger conferences. It has more depth than the ACC or most of the others.

Georgia is bad.  The Gators have one quality win. ONE. Versus Ole Miss.

East Carolina 4-5
Tennessee 4-4
Missouri 4-4
Kentucky 4-4
They lost to LSU.

And FSU has zero quality wins, and one bad loss.  Florida has one quality win and one "good" loss.  I would say FSU is in a worse spot than UF this year until proven otherwise with say a win over Clemson or Florida.  The jury is still out on both teams as well as just about everyone else in the country.  Kind of a funny year, it seems like it's hard to get a grasp on who's great and who's not this year and we are 9 weeks deep.  It will come down to the wire with the top ten teams.

I am ashamed of FSU's schedule this year.  It is incumbent on them to schedule at least 2 quality out of conference teams per year...helps with strength of schedule and selling seats in the stadium.

Thank you for bringing us back to 1991....you know, the year after an ACC team (GA Tech) won the National Title

Typically try to keep OOC schedule weak in odd number years.  At UF and at Clemson in those years.  That being said, we do have Bame for 2017.  I heat they're a pretty tough team.

Fair enough! I learned long ago to expect the same from Lake re: Miami sports teams so I'll make a note for you as well.

yep...Ole Miss in 2016, Bama in 2017, and Auburn possibly in 2019...plus Notre Dame will be in there at least once.
