FYI - was in Monty's today, new owners.  Indian or something.  They are starting some renovation and will gut rehab and put in another Mexican restaurant (which seems like a huge mistake but oh well).

I know, right? That space is crying out for a sushi bar or pizza place.

Indian or something.

I'd hate for it to turn out like Seinfeld, but they really should make it an Indian restaurant.

Pizza place when pizza is everywhere in town?  ::)
One of many unsung internet heroes who are almost entirely misunderstood. Contrary to popular belief, many trolls are actually quite intelligent. Their habitual attacks on forums is usually a result of their awareness of the pretentiousness and excessive self-importance of many forum enthusiasts.

Ben Davis may have harbored greater aspirations at one time.

Bangladeshi cuisine?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

If they can bleach the entire place, then clean the walls, floor, and ceilings with fire, and then bleach the entire place again, it might be usable.  I think that was literally the most disgusting place I have been into in all of Jacksonville, and I have been to Sherwoods and Locals and frequented Phillips Highway prostitutes.

It was always so... dark. Or maybe dank. Or both. I thought it was pretty gross. Not crazy about the clientele, either.

Those in the Know know Monty's was 'ruined' years ago. Nope ,not the good ol' Monty's we knew back then.
I was never a fan, prefering the Elitist Partners et al.

Shucks, recent urban legend- Pine Street resident Brooks Busey so upset with the present day Monty's of his youth, patrons, that he bailed out of Avondale for deep west side acreage.

As a nearby resident,I am not waiting with shortened breath about Monty's or any other new restaurant venue. Plenty too much now.The Growth Bucket overflowing. And the savings jar the same- often times, when thinking of or attempting to Head To The Shoppes as per entrenched habit, I just toss $80 to piggy bank.

Just hope the drive-thru package feature remains, a matter of specialty and true neighborhood function, historical feature.  ;)

Now there is talk of a wealthy person,or group that will make bid to buy the entire block. Makes sense if you think about it,or even if you don't.

How about make it a bar. The kind of bar that you've been going to for years for the $1.50 domestic bottles and the fact that it's open at 9am...weekdays. Then someone walks in off the street, orders a burger around lunchtime and you turn to the other relentlessly self destructive regulars and say "I didn't know they had food here.." You then accuse the bartender of holding out on you about the food. He then reminds you that he tells you about the food every time you are in there. "Jesus.." you say, "I've been in here before?"...that kind of bar.

The giant bites out of the neighborhood Commons swallowed by Mellow Mushroom and others could determine future "Monty's" aspirations.

Hopefully the buyer(s) did not pay too much, therfore forced in to position of generating Grande Plan /Gigantica Bottom Line aspirations.

The next good bite on The Commons will require commanding the entire block.

Full Monty. 113 galllons of Chlorox, new flooring, smoke control....and sewage capacity.......
