Doesn't this fly both ways?  More reason to destroy the two party system we have set up.

To be replaced by two new parties.

No, that would not change anything.

Not sure that it's a fair comparison when you consider Mr. McCain's was on a working Monday morning stopover that was originally expected to be a smaller scale "pancake breakfast" that had enough of a response rate to shift over to the arena.  Mr. Obama's rally, however, should provide a better venue in terms of timing & location.  As a "centrist", I attended Monday's & plan on attending Saturday's too.  What's crazy is that I anticipate Mrs. Palin's planned October visit to possibly draw more than either - go figure.......

good points.

Then that was POOR PLANNING on McCain's part; probably indicative of how his presidency would go.  Obama possibly took into account people being at work, Monday not being a good day for most (working people and others), and other intangibles relative to holding the rally during the weekday versus the weekend.  I also hope that there is a good turnout.

Metropolitan Park will be the site for a rally Saturday by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Gates will open at the Gator Bowl Boulevard recreational area at 12:30 p.m. and Obama will speak at 2:30 p.m., according to organizers.

The event is free but space is limited and reservations are being encouraged. Reservations can be made at fl.barackobama.com/jacksonvillechange.

Obama’s visit to Jacksonville will be his first since June, when the Democratic presidential candidate spoke at a fundraiser.

His visit follows a recent campaign stop from Republican candidate John McCain, who was in town Monday.

Thanks for the warning.  I'll be sure not to go downtown that day.  Hopefully the Obama supporters wont leave too much litter in front of my building.

Obviously a "Yankee" and obviously a McCain supporter; "sour grapes?"

I think that is so funny! We do lots of neighborhood cleanups and we have invited both McCain's campaign and Obama's campaign to help get our community clean. Guess who is always willing to help with the community and pick up litter? OBAMA'S peeps!

I will be there, after our International Coastal Cleanup with Obama supporters!

Funny.  I wonder who is more likely to litter - McCain supporters or Obama supporters?  I think the answer is pretty obvious (Obama people).

(Bordering on racism?)...what do you mean?

I'll be there with my 2 year old son. I'll make sure he doesn't litter.

Actually I hope you all have a good time... I may be on the other side of the aisle but a rally at Metro park sounds like a lot more fun than inside the coliseum...

It should be a pretty good party...!
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Treehuggers are a small percentage of the Obama constituency.  The more downscale supporters of Obama are decidedly more likely to litter.  Drive around town to confirm this.

now who is playing class warfare?

Littering is not a matter of income but of respect for the law and your fellow man.

Sorry fellas but you cant tar me with the elitist brush.  To paraphrase William F. Buckley, I would rather the country be governed by the first 100 names in the Jacksonville phone book than by the Democrat "leadership" in Congress.  I respect the common man and his decisions and I want to leave him alone to make them.

you used the term "downscale"

On a development note...

I hope COJ would take better advantage of this opportunity to show off the city. They missed great opportunities with the McCain visit and American Idol.

They should have kept the McCain rally at the fairgrounds. It could have showcased our pancakes.

Fitting that with long-standing financial institutions failing left and right, food and gas prices soaring, a catastrophic bailout to the tune of well over a trillion dollars ready to come out of taxpayer funds, two wars with no end in site (three if you count our move into Pakistan), military options "always on the table" for another, and a class of super elite multinational corporations and central banks absolutely pillaging and raping the American middle class into the ground, the argument here is about personal chefs, and whether a jet was sold on ebay, and who served more time in the PTA, and which candidate's supporters litter the most, and how the bridge to nowhere was handled, etc.

Not bashing anyone, and it's what you hear on the streets too thanks to the mainstream media pushing all this bullshit in lieu of real issues, but with so much on the line and America near or at an all-time low when you combine the state of the economy, long-term outlook, and world standing, it's just heart breaking to see this election being shifted, like 2004 and many others, away from the real issues affecting America and towards all this moralistic trite.

On a side note, I enjoyed the crap out of Sarah Palin's email getting hacked into. Just loved every second of it. Both candidates, through their endorsement of the Patriot Act and FISA, expect Americans to bend over and take whatever gross violation of personal privacy (email, library records, phone logs, text messages, financial transactions, etc) they please. I'd personally love to see each and every one of them have their email hacked and their privacy violated, just for the sake of irony. Unlike Palin though, the average American citizen doesn't have the CIA and FBI hunting down the "criminals" responsible.
