5-9?

Shhhhhh....

I can't lose.  They either win 6 or more games or they play more than 14....  Easy $100.

Who the hell is screaming playoffs? Good lord calm down.

I will be happy to bet anyone $100 who thinks they are going more than 5-9.  And, yes, that would technically be an improvement over next year-- in the same way that banging your grandmother is an improvement over banging your grandfather.

Great to know you set your standards SOOO high  ::) Would that explain the huge smile on your face?

But looking at what this team has to offer so far (particularly defensively) I'd have to say 5 wins would be just about right. I am assuming Indy would win both games and the Jags split the Tennessee and Houston series, where else would they get the four wins for a 6-10 record? Aside from the Bucs, Jets, and Bills they would be hard pressed to steal a win from anyone else they face. 6 wins certainly possible, but if I'm a betting man...

So, if they go 5-11, I'm still $100 richer right?
I still think that's "going more than 5-9" but I'm not sure.

I defer to NFL expert Rachel on this one.

If Brady is out for the full 4, Week 3 would be interesting.

We typically play the Ravens tough.

And there's not telling what we'll get from the NFC South this year.  Atlanta was horrible last year.  Granted their WRs were out for most of the year, but they still have no running game to speak of.  The Saints are without a true #1 for the first time in a long time... Colston is not the guy he once was.

There's nothing set  in stone that says we're going to split with either the Titans or the Texans or losing both to the Colts for that matter.

The thing that's tough is that we've shown flashes of being just as good as any of the top tier teams.   The difference is that we do it 3 or four plays a game and they do it for 3 or 4 quarters.  It's always seemed in the past that we play not to lose rather than playing to win.  That's a mindset.  Hopefully we won't see that this year, but either way, I think 4 wins is our floor and would put $100 up on a wager to get to 6.

Uh, the guy literally just above who is saying they are slam for next year and possible this year. Which is hilarious.  By all means, man, I am perfectly calm.  I have a huge smile on my face. I absolutely LOVE Jags fans taking the first preseason game and extrapolating from it that they are making the playoffs next year and have a shot this year.  I will be happy to bet anyone $100 who thinks they are going more than 5-9.  And, yes, that would technically be an improvement over next year-- in the same way that banging your grandmother is an improvement over banging your grandfather.

When did I say they're making the playoff???

Hey expert, the NFL season is 16 games not 14.

Kind of my take on it as well, that's why I was so quick to accept.

Get used to the Jags playing seven regular season games in Jax for a long time. The Jags signed a deal with London (one home game) until 2030.

There was an addendum to the report from Shad's rep that the agreement has not been signed and is awaiting approval from the NFL.

This was not unexpected in the least. NFL signed the deal with Tottenham before they completed their renewal with Wembley. (Which is still pending)

So some announcement on the Jags side had to be expected to coincide with the rest.

The Jags make way more money in one London game than an equivalent game in Jacksonville.

The fact that the NFL wants to have deals with both Wembley and Tottenham simply means there is more money to be made.

The alignment with the lease with EverBank Field is not a coincidence. By 2030, EverBank Field will probabaly be at or near the end of its financial value from an NFL perspective.

Look for a new stadium pitch in Jacksonville around 2025.

Isnt that about the same time the Shipyard's will be built out?

Maybe we will get a new Convention Center in the deal.

Elwood

That'd be a neat trick, since JPP hasn't reported or been cleared to play.

You mean two-time superbowl MVP Eli Manning?
and JPP dominating from the bench?

Whoa, that's some serious future tripping! :)

IMO there are only a very few modern era open air/retractable roof NFL or MLB stadiums (near the 90s/2000s/2010s) that will be replaced for new stadium in the foreseeable future; There are only two currently that I can think of with a replacement talks (Fed Ex Field, and Turner Field). Turner Field will go because it's in an undesirable location, away for it's core base, and Fed Ex Field won't be unoccupied anytime soon, because of the whole political pushback concerning the Redskins name.

Nearly all of these modern era stadiums (particularly the open air stadiums) can easily be renovated for the future. Sun Life Stadium is a perfect example, a stadium built in the 80s. These modern era NFL stadiums are a far cry from the Three Rivers/Riverfront/Veterans Stadium(s) cookie cutters, or the Kingdomes and Metrodomes of the world which had to be replaced. Many forget the 'building a stadium mania' only came because much of the stadiums were severely obsolete; That's a big difference from a renovation friendly stadium like Everbank Field, Sun Life Stadium or FirstEnergy Stadium.
