Not many people know that Hawaii has a large homeless problem there. Their two biggest industries is of course tourism (virtually all low paying jobs) and the military.

I ran into a few locals who think the rail project is a waste. Claimed it does not reach where most live and visit. They wanted another interstate instead.

Lake, are those houses in the 60's on the South Shore? #64 looks a lot like a house I stayed in about 15 years ago on a spring break trip. Ex GF's family friend.

This brought back a lot of memories. I was station at Scofield Barracks when I was in the military. Hawaii is just so beautiful and expensive. Nice place to vacation. Thanks for the tour.

Great place. The density yields $700,000  average for some residence. Hope the noted high rise construction boom does not ultimately compromise the landscape,feel and function.

This piece reminded me of growing up in Miami,Florida- at young age the family would at times go on car tour of the burgeoning Beaches construction.

Jacksonville is two weather zones removed from Miami's sub tropical placement.

Clear water is a driver for sure. I know my folks quickly bypassed Jacksonville on the way down from their native Charlevoix,Michighan.The water!!

Decades later there would be a discovery of NE Florida's water recreation attributes.

Alas,as great as Hawaii may be,it's better here.
