QuoteThe crummy Shell station is still there.

You call it crummy, but when you are on E in Riverside, its a godsend! Closest option is Gate Station/BP at Stockton and I-95.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

WaWa and Sheetz are more than just pump gas. The provide ability for residence to get good, fast and inexpensive hot food 24 hours a day. I have heard more than one person ask that question for the Riverside/Brooklyn area. areas need a variety of service to serve the residents.

This is one in Washington DC.

The one in DC has a roof garden above the gas station that not only helps with rainwater retention, but also provides a more pleasant view to the building above.

Any idea what is going to be built on this lot in the future at Forest & Park?

I heard an Anthropologie / Urban Outfitters / Abercrombie triple store. New concept.

I hate hate hate gas stations when I don't need gas . . . . but this may actually be a good spot for one.  Looks like it is tucked far enough away down the street from where the future behive of Brooklyn will be.  I don't think it will be that noticeable. I kind of wish it was on the highway side of Park, is that where we are talking about?

And no Gas station?
One of many unsung internet heroes who are almost entirely misunderstood. Contrary to popular belief, many trolls are actually quite intelligent. Their habitual attacks on forums is usually a result of their awareness of the pretentiousness and excessive self-importance of many forum enthusiasts.

Yes, there will be a gas station, but handcrafted, artisan, organic and small batch gasoline only.

Yes, wouldn't want to throw off the Feng Shui of the neighborhood.

Two Doors Down has decided to close instead of relocating. November 25, 2015 will be their last day of business.

QuoteAbraham looked nearby to relocate the business, but none of the possibilities worked out.

He wanted a site in Brooklyn, Riverside, LaVilla or elsewhere Downtown that could accommodate a 5,000-square-foot restaurant that could seat 125 customers and provide plenty of parking.

He also wanted minimal downtime to prepare a new location so he could keep his team of nine, including him and his business partner and cook Enos "Whitey" White Jr. The hours of operation are important to them, too: Breakfast and lunch, 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The sites presented were too far from his customers, would take too long to build-out or would require night and weekend operations. He considered the unfinished Sax Seafood & Grill building in LaVilla, but among other challenges, it had a lounge and Abraham said he isn't in the lounge business.

"I had to make a decision," Abraham said Monday morning.

Update on Gate's plans for the site:

QuoteProperty owner trustee Chris Ware expects to sell the 400 block of Park Street in Brooklyn, a site best known for housing the popular Two Doors Down restaurant, to Jacksonville-based Gate Petroleum Co. within four or five months.
That opens the gate to Brooklyn, Riverside and Downtown for the company, which operates and supplies fuel for almost 200 locations in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

"We do have an agreement with Gate and we expect to continue the next phase of due diligence next week," Ware said Thursday by email.

I wonder what type of influence with the DIA and DDRB have on the gas station's design? Will it be the same footprint as the rest or will it fit within the desired vision of the surrounding district?

Any chance the other developer stakeholders can apply pressure to create urban design? (Alex Coley/Hallmark) If that's indeed what they want to see happen in the area?
