Ya, he screwed everyone... Like always. I have no idea how this guy got back into office.

He got reelected because despite all of their claims to be the "real Floridians," South Florida voters couldn't be bothered to vote.

Our voter turnout in Northeast Florida wasn't all that spectacular, either.

"Plus there were other items funded for $500,000 or less for projects serving the disabled, other special need individuals and school children that add up to nearly $4 million more." So Rick Scott prefers to Screw the disabled, whats new. Screw the people who need help the most get back on track or even get on the track. Rick how big is your heart I bet it's smaller then the Grinch's heart. So will Mr Curry the savior of Jacksonville Florida stand up once he is Mayor and help out these projects serving the disabled. Only time will tell.  :-\

Still nearly 10% higher than Miami-Dade's turnout. In the context of Scott being re-elected, I would have been fine with Duval voters staying home.

First off..I am not a Scott backer.

That being said...everything can't get approved. Sometimes projects are going to get vetoed. It's a matter of budget. Basic mathematics. Just like your home budget. There is only so much that can be done with income.

I think the real focus should not be on what didn't get approved (because everything that was vetoed can be resubmitted), but what did get approved. Do we have a list of that?

I'd rather see a list of what was approved, what wasn't approved, and how much the state has in the budget. While some of these vetos do make sense (the soccer facility, private colleges), some of them seem like clear politicking (USS Adams, widening Old Dixie Highway in Nassau, St. Aug historic preservation). The gubna doesn't want to seem like anything other than a fiscal conservative for his eventual run for Congress. How else would he get the nod? Party > constituents.
I agree with you here...these vetoes do not make sense. The only one that I can kinda see is the USS Adams. That is something that our fair city is trying to put together and the bulk of that cost should rest with the city, not the state. (IMO)
Infrastructure...roadways, bridges, etc should almost always be approved (again, IMO).
St Auggie...like it or not, it's a tourist attraction and it brings money to the city and the state so of course that should be taken care of (within reason).

Scott clearly went after some pork in Nassau that Bean secured but probably rightfully so. Nassau does not need that many projects. On the other hand, the St. A preservation and USS Adams vetoes are disturbing.

The Ferry veto is troubling, too.  It was for periodic maintenance on the boat (IIRC).  He vetoed it "because the Ferry got $1 million last year for the same thing"?  Uh, so, if his pilot says his jet needs a tune up, would he veto it because he just had one last year?

Well since Scott uses his own plane I guess he pays for the maintenance also?

Uh, right, but the point was, would he forgo annual maintenance this year, because he had it done last year?

Bingo. Razor thin vote margin. Again. Politics! Condensed down to the essential effect:The Democrat candidate transformed from NRA Endorsed Conservative to Anti Gun welfare constituent advocate.

Some day we might place in to office a Governor that can not fund his own private aircraft, and therefore we will need to reinstate, and budget for our governments' own aircraft service. The savings might prove phenomenal.

Don't need to be a wisecrack for this. We all know that the election was a lame duck... with poor representative running for the office, except the last election we had for our city council members was a such refreshing change for the city of Jacksonville

Read today's July 4th edition of the Florida Times Union 7/4/2015. On the front page "Agencies reeling after Scott vetoes funding."

Don't blame me, I voted Wyllie.

Same here, maybe people will learn for next time.

Me, too.  That election was another stunning example of why 2 parties aren't enough.
