The term "Club."  I cannot think of anyone in America calls a NFL team a Club. That's for hockey. Not Football.

It's a team. Not a club.

Carry over from the early incorporation names teams used to register the entity. Legal definition now shows the following;
Per Blacks Legal Dictionary:

A voluntary, unincorporated association of persons for purposes of a social, literary, or political nature, or the like. A club Is not a partnership. 2 Mees. & W. 172. The word "club" has no very definite meaning. Clubs are formed for all sorts of purposes, and there is no uniformity in their constitutions and rules. It is well known that clubs exist which limit the number of the members and select them with great care, which own considerable property in common, and in which the furnishing of food and drink to the members for money is but one of many conveniences which the members enjov. We need to score points. Outside of JT now joining the team, there aren't many proven playmakers on offense. We don't have any depth at receiver. I wouldn't mind seeing the Jags taking an Amari Cooper or Kevin White (who I actually would prefer over Cooper) in the first round. Let Fowler work on his shocked face.

I agree with you about the proven part, but c'mon man.  Lol, we had 3 rookies starting/playing at WR last year with a rookie QB and essentially 3 rookies on the O-line.   They were all proven in college, if you wanna count that.

They did 'meh' last year, and while I'm not expecting us to start putting up 30 points a game, I think we'll be substantially better this year based on their experience last year alone.

JT is going to be interesting to watch.  I love everything I've read about him since joining the CLUB, but are his numbers a product of raw skill or were they because he had a HOF QB tossing the rock to him with a complement of help on all sides.  I think we'll see him draw the most attention from the defense early on next year, so the test will be for him to get open with all eyes on him or to be the 'team guy' and be OK as a decoy while Lee or Hurns get the majority of the passes.

Still, they haven't proved much yet simply because they were rookies last year. And outside of those 3 now 2nd year receivers, who's left? Ace Sanders? Tandon Doss? The scrub from Seattle? The jury is still out on Blackmon's return, but even if he did come back, he's been out of football for so long that nobody knows what sort of production he'd have. We need another receiver who has all the tools necessary to be a quality player.

After watching some of JT recently, he made a lot of plays based on his pure athletic ability. Manning threw some needles to him, but JT still made spectacular catches and has speed to burn in the open space.

Motor City native Allen Robinson will throw out the first pitch at a Tigers game tomorrow. That's really cool.

I heard the Detroit game is our third preseason game and it will be nationally televised.  Maybe a Thursday night CBS game?

copperfiend

Friday night. And yes, nationally televised.

Former Minny WR Greg Jennings will visit Jax today. That would be an awesome pickup if we get him; Picking defense with the third overall draft pick would be a certainty.

It would?
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

I agree. Jennings was the product of the GB offense. They let him go for a reason.

Apache, I'm one of those "Green Bay Guys". While he did have a great career with the Packers, I concur that Green Bay let him go based on new, up and coming, receivers. Now that the Packers have re-signed Randall Cobb, and have Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams, plus a stable of backups, I'm not concerned with their WR corps.

Having said all that, I'd be pleased to see ole #85 come to Jacksonville and show up in teal. I hope something works out with the Jaguars.

We do what we do.

Let's hope Jennings is the aging Torry Hold veteran instead of the aging Jerry Porter veteran WR signing.

The Jags have alot of young WRs, and we could use him as a mentor, filling in that slot position. If signed, I suspect that it would be a short term contract, like one year. He's clearly not the Green Bay Greg Jennings anyone, but I think that he still has a niche in the NFL.
