^About 10k seats are set aside for students. And of course many students buy tickets elsewhere in the stadium (that's what I did).

As for other locations, the campus stadiums are probably the least likely competitor, since, as you say, the teams would only get revenue on their home year, instead of every year. However, there are certainly elements that would like to see Atlanta added to the mix (in rotation with other stadiums). That will only continue with the new stadium, and the Citrus Bowl has repeatedly tried to steal the game away. The game's place in Jax is a lot more vulnerable than people often think.
Are you saying 10k per school or 5k per school? Whatever the case, we'll have to agree to disagree on this. I'd be surprised if either University is making more than 3k tickets available to their student bodies for the Florida-Georgia game. I'm not saying you're wrong but I sure would be surprised if you're correct.

We'll also have to disagree about competitors; the game in Jax *may* be vulnerable (and I don't think it really is) but it isn't likely vulnerable to Atlanta or Orlando or any other city not named Gainesville or Athens. There certainly are some envious Central Florida and South Florida Gators who would rather have the game on campus, and there have been in the last couple of decades disgruntled Georgia fans who wanted it moved on campus because we were spanking them so often down here. But Atlanta? Orlando? Not hap'nin, IMHO.

Tacachale, the contract will be up in 2016 like you said. Negotiations are underway for a ten year extension this spring, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be done. That Citrus Bowl issue was way back in 1994 before EverBank Field was even built, and that's the last time Orlando was heard from again; To say 'that ship has sailed' is an understatement. The FL/GA game will be secured in Jax for years to come. Here in Inferiority Complex Land, any given thing could be considered 'vulnerable' even if it's not...

Yup, notice when Georgia starting getting competitive in the series, all of those 'moving to Georgia (ATL/Athens)' rants ceased. Like you said, Jax already conquered all of the 'supposed new neutral site' locales, and nobody is trying to lose that 1.7 million that each university get by being in Jax, versus going to Athens or G-ville.

Yes, the schools distribute about 5k tickets each - 10k total - to students at an affordable price. They always sell out, usually in just a few days.

The threat of leaving Jax mostly comes from the Georgia side these days, as many think Jax is an unfair disadvantage. It's funny, because back in the 80s it was Gators fans who whined that the game gave *Georgia* the advantage, since they always won. Sports fans tend to have very short memories.

Some folks want the game back at the campuses, but then the schools make money only during their home year, instead of every year. I tend to doubt Florida would go for it at this point, there's just too much money to lose. The theory with Atlanta would be to add it into a rotation with Jax or with Jax, Gainesville and Athens. The idea comes from bigwigs at Georgia (including Mark Richt) and their boosters. The threat will return when the new Atlanta stadium comes online and they get eager to add events to it.

No inferiority complex involved. A complacency complex is just as bad. The Citrus Bowl just underwent an expensive renovation and they're always looking for things to put it there.

Gator Bowl Sports was very forward-thinking to try and work out a 10-year deal to emphasize our commitment to keeping one of our great traditions.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I-10east

^^^Do you seriously think that the Georgia alum want to go FURTHER south into Florida, to play in a lesser stadium (in technology, seating, etc etc etc)? Even with those Citrus Bowl renovations, it's nowhere near the caliber of EverBank Field, let's not kid ourselves. C'mon Taca, you are smarter than that.

Tacachale

^Alums and fans don't have much of a say. It's the universities (with input from the major booster organizations), dealing with the cities/stadiums. And yes, I think they'd move the game, or go to a rotation, if it meant a better deal for their bottom line.

As long as we keep staying on top of it it will.

Randall Cobb re-up'd with Green Bay. There are still fish out in the sea for the Jags to get. Hopefully Justin Blackmon doesn't do anything stupid, and plays as much as possible in 2015.

Several reporters saying it is a done deal for the Jags to land Julius Thomas.  Meanwhile, Miami seems to have Suh locked up, and the Jaguars are pursuing Jared Odrick from the Dolphins.

Is Blackmon playing for the Jags this upcoming season?
