Holiday Bowl stats between to two DEs that the Jags might get in the draft

Nebraska's Randy Gregory: 2 solo tackles, 2 assists, and no sacks

USC's Leonard Williams: 6 solo tackles, 3 assists, and 1 sack

I'm very apprehensive about picking either of these two in the draft TBH. I'm no freaking NFL scout, but they seem far from a 'sure shot no brainer JPP, or JJ Watt' type. Plus DE isn't a major position of need, and that could be addressed VIA free agency. I'm just gonna say it, Gregory doesn't have a chance in hell of being the 3rd pick with the Jags. I'll really hate for us to pass on Amari Cooper, and he tears up the league somewhere with another team.

Leonard Williams looked pretty good to me.

Sen'Derrick Marks sustained a torn ACL vs the Texans. Damn.

QuoteJaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Marks will start the rehabilitation process immediately before undergoing reconstructive surgery.

Marks was injured in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans.

Marks had a career-high 8.5 sacks and was named a Pro Bowl alternate last week.

The Marks injury combined with fellow starting defensive tackle Roy Miller's knee injury (sustained in Week 15 at Baltimore and will require surgery) could impact the Jaguars' off-season plans.

The Jaguars could look at a rotational defensive tackle in free agency or could choose a future starter with the third overall pick (like USC's Leonard Williams).

Marks will be entering the second year of a four-year contract in 2015 and Miller signed a four-year contract extension earlier this month.

More updates later ...

Does anyone know anything about the Jaguars' strength and conditioning coach(es)?

I know it's impossible to prevent some of this stuff, but it sure seems like the Jags have been riddled by injuries for the last few years.

Right.......... because there is such a thing as a no brainer in the draft and players that are considered it, especially when premier pass rushers, they fall out of the top ten all the time.

If he's the real deal, then the Jags should get him. I admit I don't watch alot of USC football, and I didn't take into account of plays being ran away from him/ double teams etc. All I can say is I hope that overall the offense is more of a priority of revamping (esp free agency) moreso than our defense; Our defense is pretty stable right now, in contrast to our inept offense.

Regarding the OC I am not sure why so many people think that a new OC would have change things this year or next.  At some times during the season we would have 7 rookies on the field. Any OC will be limited by rookie mistakes and their just young. Many of them are not as strong as the player they are up against. I think Tony B. says it the best, get older on offense and younger on the defensive line. ANYONE know how many picks we have this draft?

Concerning Sen'Derrick's ACL injury, MANY are correlating it with the awful playing field in Houston's NRG Stadium; Houston seem synonymous with awful football playing surfaces, with the 'pioneering' 9th Wonder of the World, the Astrodome being the Granddaddy of them all.

Hopefully we will not 'Three-peat' with that distinguished title.

^ It will take some hindsight to determine whether Fisch was the sacrificial scapegoat for this season, but I like the move. The organization has been preaching accountability all season, and let's face it, this offense was dreadful. Gotta think that Gus Bradley's seat will be getting warm leading into next season too.

Glad they made a move. Sounds like some internal issues with Fisch and the team.
