I heard somewhere that this buildings owner has lost other historic buildings to questionable fires downtown. Is this true?

Great pictures. MJ should get there again before the smoke settles to take the second round of demolition pictures before all the evidence is hauled away for resale. Drove by yesterday after putting in at Hogans Creek where the official Mayor Brown kayak launch logo has been replaced with NO TRESPASSING signs. Dave Roman and Tera Meeks have been aware of this for months. Would love to hear what insurance adjusters and other fire experts would say to the sampling of the obscene pictures that you have provided

Could have been a  great lawyers office with downstairs retail. I believe the Jacksonville Historic Society owned the building.

The historical society doesn't own this building. JHS owns Old St. Luke's and the casket factory near the arena. This property is owned by Jacksonville Historical Properties, LLC.

Is this the building Harbinger Sign had been looking at (before deciding against it) earlier this year...or was it the one next door?

No, and frankly Chris Hionides doesn't need to burn buildings for money.  If you look at the downtown properties that are actually occupied with cool businesses (burro bar, bay street, dos gatos etc.  all of them are petra properties, also owned by Chris.  The family management of their properties downtown is one of the only reasons that there is an entrepreneurial class present in downtown at all.

Chris Hionedes did own another structure that had a major fire and was subsequently demo'd. The former Jacksonville Jewish Center.
