Well, having 4 straight years of Gene Smith drafting Tyroil Smoochie-Wallace (Key & Peele reference) from Southwestern Washington at Akron State A&M 25 times doesn't help our cause. It's depressing knowing how bad one person set back our organization.

Allen Robinson is out for the season. When it rains, it pours...

According to the T-U, out of the 9 newspapers in greater London,

7 had no mention of the Jaguars game.

1 mentioned the score

1 wrote up 135 words covering the game.

yet over 83,000 people came to the game.

You pick the issue:

- Bias against US sports
- It's not soccer
- NFL PR firm did a lousy job
- No one in greater England cares

I would be interested in knowing how many press passes the NFL gave to out to the British press. If only 1 accepted, the results make sense.

Yep. I didn't even know he was injured until I saw that.

I was at the game.  I can't speak to the reporting, but I can tell you that the entire city of London was covered with people in NFL jerseys and paraphernalia.  In a city of 13 million, with around 800k tourists at any given time, it seemed like 1 out of every 5 people had NFL apparel on.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

Just read that the Jags are now the only team in NFL history to start three consecutive seasons 1-9.

Tough pill to swallow.

Leave it up to the NFL, they can pull a stat out their ass about anything. I dont pay that shit any attention. Their always drumming up some stupid stat because they dont have anything else to do.

The team seems to be getting worse.

Not sure Bradley can survive this mess.

This has to be the offseason that Khan opens the checkbook for Caldwell in free agency.

As for coach, would not shock me to see Caldwell give his old buddy Greg Roman a ring.

It's not the coaching. It's the talent on the field.

It's not Gus. They are still making mistakes, but they are also making some improvements.

Large $$ free agents have not been Caldwell's MO.

Aside from the pass rush, I'm genuinely curious how people actually think this team is improving.

1-10 record, with 8 double digit losses and a staggering -144 point differential.

Last year, the Jags had an arguably tougher schedule, and won 4 games before they hit the 10 loss mark.

Special teams are a mess.

Scobee can barely get a field goal off without being tipped or blocked.

Missed tackles all over the field.

Abysmal run game to go with an anemic offense.

Any "improvement" is purely speculative when the Jags have spent three consecutive years being blown out by multiple touchdowns every single week.

On coaching, I want to believe in Gus, but what other NFL head coach is going to burn a timeout challenging where the ball is spotted when there is literally no upside? What other OC is going with that screen to Toby Gerhart on 3rd and 12 on the Colt's 14 yard line. And why did we even bother fielding outside receivers today when every drive was run, run, pass to the running back on 3rd and long, punt? I really think Jedd Fisch is doing serious damage to Blake Bortles.

Even with a complete rebuild, I think you should be able to point to some moderate progression from week to week.

Don't see how people can watch this team play and not feel like the wheels are coming off in four different places.

Caldwell deserves his three years to turn things around, but if we're at this point come midseason next year, I really hope there's a Plan B in place.

Just a contrast.

Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year, Aikman threw 18 a year his first two years.  They had way more veterans on these teams than the Jags do today.  It was the players they got after their second seasons that helped them break through. The Jags had so little NFL talent when Caldwell arrived, look how many were punted.  Losing seasons produce better drafts and trades with the right GM involved.

The NFL is the NFL. The other teams watch film and run analytics just as much as we do now. So even if the Jags get better, so will the other teams. The breakthrough comes with increasing the talent levels.  As long as they keep making good personnel decisions. They can't control the injuries.

Indianapolis Colts
1998 season: Rookie season

Despite concerns about his arm strength and mobility,[41] Manning was selected first overall in the 1998 draft by the Indianapolis Colts.[42] Although many considered Ryan Leaf his rival for the first selection in the draft, and Leaf's quarterback rating was higher, all six experts Sports Illustrated consulted believed that Manning was superior. Five said that they would take him first in the draft; Sid Gillman said of Manning, "this is a pro quarterback".[43] In his rookie season, he passed for 3,739 yards with 26 touchdowns, set five different NFL rookie records including most touchdown passes in a season, and was named to the NFL All-Rookie First Team.[44][45][46] Manning's first win came against fellow rookie Leaf, 17–12 over the Chargers.[47] Weeks later, Manning faced off against Steve Young; he threw three touchdowns, tying a Colts rookie record, but the 49ers kicked a late field goal to win 34–31.[48] In November against the Jets, Manning threw for three touchdowns in a 24–23 win; he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for this performance. It was the first game-winning drive of Manning's career, as he hit Marcus Pollard with the game-winning TD pass.[45][49] Manning was certainly a bright spot in 1998 for the Colts, but he also threw a league high 28 interceptions as the team struggled to a 3–13 record with a defense that gave up more than 27 points per game. The Colts lost many close games, including five games in which they had led by double-digits at some point.[50][51]
