Obama on Net Neutrality: FCC Should Reclassify Internet Service

Verizon will file suit if they dont get the requisite loopholes.

Just getting paid for the pipe is no longer good enough for the carriers.

They want to be paid for premium peerage as well. Problem is who is going pay for it? Content providers or the end users?

That is where the gaps are.

Fortunately, Verizon got caught with their pants down on Netflix earlier this year when they claimed they had no capacity to support Netflix demand and then using their own documentation found they had neglected to use the connectivity they were already paying for.

While Net Neutrality on the surface appears to be about equal access, on the corporate side it is about their right to make a profit.

What people are finding is that the carriers are not as wounded and "stressed" as they make themselves out to be and its becoming part of the debate.

I find it laughable that the largest squatter of unused wireless spectrum is ATT and Verizon, yet they are the same ones who cry so loud about the bandwidth "shortage" yet seem to find enough dough to keep competitors out by squatting on it.

But I digress.

The problem is that the cable companies have a monopoly BECAUSE of the government in the first place. If we were allowed to have competition then this wouldn't be an issue.
Instead, the governments solution to regulation is.....MORE regulation! Shocker.

And please don't ever forget that Obama is the appointed Tom Wheeler, chairman of the FCC, who was a lobbyist for the cable industry. What could go wrong?
Jags season ticket holder.

I would love to be a telecom policy advisor to Sen. Cruz because his comment makes good news copy, it fails to see the context of the issue.
