Take with a massive grain of salt, obviously, but the below iMessage has been making the rounds today, allegedly between Blake Bortles and a friend.

Was he texting Brett Favre or Jameis Winston?

So Chad Henne is not very good, as we all knew. His performance is as expected. Why do we act all surprised when he plays and the Jags lose? So now we want to throw Bortles in there and destroy him like we do to every other quarterback? The Jags aren't going to the playoffs this year, so why screw up Bortles' head by having him get his ass kicked all season? I wouldn't play him in this offense even if Henne went down.

Though, Bortles probably isn't the answer either, but I'd be happy to eat those words.

I dont think Bortles is the "answer", but I do believe he can do somethings physcially that will allow him to succeed more than Henne, thus put our offense in a better position. Bortles has already shown a knack to create plays when then break down, escape preassure, play in a crowded pocket, take a hit and still deliver the ball. Not to mention his ability run.. Henne, well if it aint there or things go wrong, he just stands there and takes the sack without event trying. The most Henne will/can do is run for positive yards. Not to mention his infamous batted passes, which he will probably lead the league in AGAIN this year. But things will come together I guess.

Any chance ticket prices are reduced 50% to reflect the value of the product? October 26th can't come fast enough. Tannehill will end up looking like Dan Marino and Wake's going to be wearing Henne's jersey by the start of the 2nd Quarter!

For those who think Bortles showed greatness in the preseason, get a grip! He was playing in preseason against scrubs and soft coverages. He is a rookie, and the Jags are so bad on offense, there is nothing that even the great Tim Tebow could do to rescue this team.

Bradley has bigger issues in his defense which has been getting shredded this year. Gus has to find a way to get his boys to man up and play some defense, to provide opportunities for the offense like the did in Game 1. There is almost no way that this team, with the lack of credible receivers, Zero running game, and a shaky O-line can be expected to drive the ball 80 yards/10 plays for a score.

Leave Bortles out till next year.

After all the jawing he does with DBs after is dropping of passes or 5 yard outs, I'm surprised his gums and tongue aren't heldout for tightness!

Lakelander living outside reality again....dude, stick with the Miami Heat...neither of your Miami football teams have been relevant in the past 10 years

For me the most difficult part to comprehend is how we do not have one bona fide STAR PLAYER on this team.
Not one. How do you accomplish this feat? We have not drafted one, and we have not traded for one. It's hard to comprehend when you look at the money spent on the folks whose job it is to put together a team.

Almost every team in the NFL has 2 Super Star Players. We got NONE.

Also, you cannot win at any team sport with out experienced leadership: a.k.a. "Veterans" who know how to win. We don't have that either.

^ Famous last words, but give it a year or two.

Especially if we beef up the O-line through the draft this year.

Question for those who understand the position better than I do:

Is Luke Joeckel just a bust? At number two overall in the draft, he's proven a pretty big letdown. What's the problem there?

Poz & Scobee are two players that I think would qualify as star players.  And if you're basing your STAR requirement on Pro-Bowl selection, well.....  You may want to reconsider your rating system.

How did Tampa do last night with all of their 'star players'?

I bet you can name more players on the two NJ teams than you can ours, and would probably consider them upgrades to what we have currently.  What's their combined record?

Kansas City went 11-5 last year (undefeated through week 9).  This year:  0-2, same as us.

How about the fact that we have the same record as both the 'star studded' Saints and Colts?

I understand the frustration, I really do.  I get it.  Patience for this franchise is hard to come by, and I've been practicing it since '04.  I don't know why it's so hard for most people to understand that these things take time, and we're already on the second coach/gm since Khan has owned the team.  You can't keep blowing shit up and expecting the pieces that fall to resemble anything great.

We have a team now that appears to be loaded with potential playmakers - on both sides of the ball.  Maybe they'll gel and become the team we hope or maybe they won't and we'll be blowing this shit up in another few year.

I don't know if we can answer this yet.  You could make a pretty strong argument that he was red-shirted his first year.  You can also make a pretty strong argument using the fact that he's coming off of a pretty severe ankle injury from last year.

I haven't really focused on the LT position.  What I can say (from a very sketchy memory) is that we seem to be considerably stronger on the left side than the right.  I haven't seen any unblocked rushers destroying Henne from the backside.  They've all been right in his face as he comes out of his play-action.

Youre right. The problem has been the interior and the right side of the line. The left side has had very few issues.

Joeckel is the least of our worries on the line. He'll be fine.
