Henne is awful. I don't see the point in sitting Bortles. This isn't 1990. Rookie QB's come into the league and start right away all the time. We saw Bortles in the preseason. He's a stud and right now he's on the bench behind a dud. Why would fans want to pay to watch Henne play?

QuoteGus Bradley Pleased with Chad Henne's Play on Sunday

The Jacksonville Jaguars blew a 17 point lead on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, finishing the game with a 34-17 loss. Much of the ire was directed at veteran quarterback Chad Henne, who struggled to move the offense in the second half of the game. In his Monday press conference however, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley seemed to indicate the team thought Henne was efficient on Sunday.

"He performed efficiently, we were pleased with how he played" Bradley told reporters on Monday. Bradley also noted that he and offensive coaches thought Henne had a good command of the offense against the Eagles and did a good job with his decision making.

Henne was very efficent....in the first half. LMAO Gus needs to cut it out.

Nobody is buying it. Expect Dan Hicken apparently.

I was out of town and didn't see the whole game, but I did DVR it so I'll save my own judgement until I watch.

Until then, can someone explain to me why Henne's getting blamed for the team allowing 34 second-half points?  Is he playing both ways?  Does he moonlight as a safety?

Not saying he has no blame to shoulder since we didn't score again, but when you're shut-out 34-0, there's probably plenty of blame to spread around on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, there's no denying that there is plenty of blame to go around. The wide receivers missed some catches. Josh Scobee missed two field goals that he has always made in the past. Gus made a very, very questionable call, going for it at 4th and 1 from the Jags own 20 yard line. The defense took a big hit when Cyp went down. Running game was anemic. Special teams allowed two returns. A couple of dumb penalties.

All that said, Henne was truly awful, at least in the second half. Henne was 2 for 14 on third down conversions. He burnt three needless timeouts in the second half. He had passes swatted out of his hand numerous times. His constant three-and-outs didn't allow the defense much rest. And a missed short 4th-and-1 pass to Marcedes Lewis pretty much sealed the game.

Henne is probably getting an unfair amount of blame for the loss, but after years of truly inept play at quarterback by the Jags, blown game after blown game, and a quarterback that most perceive as being ready waiting in the wings, I think he'll continue getting much of the blame until Bortles is inserted into the starting lineup.

If Henne plays like Henne next week, I just don't see how the Jags can put him out there as the starter for the home opener.

Eagles scored on the first drive of the second half.  Not Henne's fault.

Immediate 3 and out, followed by long punt return, setting up second Eagle TD - Henne a contributor, in the sense that he directed the 3 and out.

Two more 3 and outs and two other drives that ended in punts ensued.  During that time the Eagles scored 3 points.  However, the defense visibly began to tire and Kelly started going no-huddle.  Henne's inability to sustain a drive = some of the blame being attributed to him.  Lee did drop a pass that could've sustained a drive, but it was far from an easy catch.  So did Hurns, but he did so after getting tattooed.

The Eagles then hit the TD bomb to Maclin that was the result of a horribly blown assignment by Prosinski, replacing the injured Cyprien.

To this point, I'd say that Henne deserved a large share of the blame for the five straight unproductive drives, in part because he had passes batted down, in part because the Eagles clearly didn't respect his arm or improvisational ability, as heavily as they were filling the box.

But where he really started getting a heavier collective dose of the blame for the loss was his terrible overthrow of Lewis on the 4th and 1 play on the next series.

And it's possible the Jags could've delivered a kill shot in the first half had he not similarly missed an open Lee on the drive that ultimately ended in the blocked FG.

The call on 4th down was DUMB DUMB DUMB. No matter which way you slice it, there was 6 minutes left and by doing that boneheaded play, we gave the Eagles automatic field goal range. I realize the defense was gasped, but I will take my chances.

Also, not calling a time out when the Eagles went for it on 4th down and scored a TD was bad on Gus. We were clearly out of position and paid for it.

I can't blame Henne for losing that game. It was an all around team loss. However, I still say start Bortles at this point.

Except the 4th and 1 call wasn't boneheaded. The play worked exactly as expected. Mercedes Lewis was wide open and Henne overthrew him. Overthrew a wide open 6'7" tight end who was laying out for it. That is completely on Henne.

I was totally fine going for it on 4th down. They had no timeouts with 6 minutes left (the fact that they had burned all of them with 6 minutes left is another issue), so at a minimum, the Eagles would have burned about 3 minutes guaranteed, assuming they got the Eagles to go 3 and out.

Besides, you can't fault the coaches on that one. They called an excellent play that worked, the players just did not execute.

Wake me up when you guys start playing Bortles.  I've seen too many years of Henne starting for Florida teams.

Definitely. Henne blew that one.

I loved the 4th and 1 call, it was there, it was open. Lewis has to make that play, he has to catch the ball. We had many passes that players could have layed out for, but did not. Watching Megatron last night, on his 2nd TD pass from Stafford, he layed out for a ball Stafford threw across his body to Johnson in the end zone, who sacrificed himself for the play. We need players willing to sacrifice themselves for the play. We did not have any thing that reflected sacrifice in the 2nd half of the Eagles Game.

Hurns was a pleasant surprise, especially since we were without our best receiver. But think about this, had the Jags D not gotten the ball back inside great field position, how many points would the Jags have scored on their own, on their own drives of 70,80 yards? 3, 10, 13? Maybe less. Our offense is not good, no matter who you have at QB. The OL can't block to save their life for our anemic run game. When did the Jags march down the field for points? I think Mark Brunell last did this for the Jags offense about a decade ago.

This game is not at Henne's feet, because he showed he can get the ball to guys who can make plays, when they catch it. Will someone please tell Marqise Lee that just cause you catch a 5 yard out, this does not make you Megatron, celebrate a TD, not the 5 yard outs kid. Prove you belong with your merits, not your mouth. I know you are wearing Mr. Mouth's old number, Reggie Williams, but prove you belong more than Reggie did.

Totally agree about Marcedes Lewis. He should have caught that pass. He is our most over rated player. Has a huge ego, but has not backed it up with plays on the field. He might be our most under used player as well. Wonder if the two go hand-in-hand?
