The NFL goes in cycles. As a kid, I loved watching football. The Colts, Saints, Patriots and Seahawks were usually terrible. They were usually the least popular teams and had half empty stadiums.

who all went to the scrimmage? I couldnt make it but just been reading online. From what I seen online and read, Bortles was pretty sharp. Yea it was just a scrimmage, but it looks like Bortles has caught on pretty quickly. Just looking at his numbers from the scrimmage, he had less attempts and more yards than henne. He seems to be coming along. I really cant wait to see him in the preseason. I think we got a steal with Bortles. Thoughts?

Keep in mind that Bortles was playing against the 2's, but he looked pretty good.  Very strong in the pocket and some really nice decisions.  His long ball is not impressive, but he dropped a couple of beautiful mid-range passes over the DB right into Mike Brown's basket.

I think he'll be good in a couple years.

I think Bortles has been better than I expected. I still think they will stick with Henne to start the season, but it would not surprise me if Bortles starts halfway through.

I was there, great turnout for a glorified practice. I believe the attendance was around 20k? Anyways, couple things I took away from what I watched....

I think Storm Johnson is going to turnout to be a very good late pick when its all said and done. Also, I was impressed with Denard.

During the preseason, they will probably let him start for a game or two and plays with the 1's. Like they did Gabbert and Henne last preseason.

Tampa Bay complains about ticket sales, they don't hesitate to put the Jags in the same sentence.

Per the TBJ:

Ticket sales show Bucs are not a big draw on the road this year

If you love your Tampa Bay Buccaneers, take some pride in that because you may be the only ones.
A secondary ticket marketplace has compiled data on how ticket sales are going for all 32 NFL teams and the Bucs are not a hot ticket in the team's eight road games this year.
Only the Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals are a tougher sell for teams selling home games this season. The Bucs have one game on VividSeats.com's list of Top 25 most expensive matchups this season – a Nov. 23 date at Chicago lists at median price of $320 a seat. That will be a hot ticket because it will see new Bucs Head Coach Lovie Smith back in Chicago where he coached from 2004 to 2012.
For the rest of the road games, there is not much draw to playing the Bucs this year – at least as evidenced by the secondary ticket price market.
The median ticket price for Bucs games on the road against the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers all fall at less that $100 a seat, according to VividSeats.com. Road games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins all have median ticket prices of between $125 and $225.
The Buccaneers had an unfortunate schedule draw this year in terms of ticket sales. The Bucs play some teams with enormous fan bases like the Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, but they play them on the road. We do get to play the Green Bay Packers at home this season and that is the most sought-after home game of the year so far with a median price of $165 a seat.
In addition to games against in-division rivals New Orleans, Atlanta and Carolina, the Bucs have home games against the Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Rams.

Not really a surprise, though, and I don't think it was even meant as a dig at Jacksonville.

We're just now to a point that we don't have to really worry about sales with our own local fans for home games, so the fact that we're not drawing fans on our road games isn't really surprising.

I do know that BCB has a fairly large contingent (150+) heading into Washington for our Week 2 game at FedEx Field against the REDSKINS.

Wow!!!!I didn't know that the Jaguars was one of the lower drawing teams in the league! I always thought that we were up there with top tier teams like Seattle, Denver, New England! Heck, even Tampa 'called us out'. So in conclusion me 'now knowing' what I know, gee golly, ouch.

duvaldude08

Well lets be real I-10, we have been terrible the past few years. Yes, we still come out and support at home no doubt. But road games, you cant blame fans of other teams for not wanting to see a crappy team play. To be honest, Im like that with our home games. When we play certain teams, I come to the game and leave early, or give my tickets away. Its not a shock to me personally. Now Tampa has some serious issues. You cant sell tickets at home, and nobody wants to see you on the road. So how the hell can they call anyone out? Now that's when you say Ouch. Lol

Well game day is almost here and everyone is pretty quiet LOL So I guess Ill strike up some conversation. A few thoughts of mine...the injuries at WR are frustrating, however none of them are serious and its only the preseason. It sort if reminds me of when several of our O-line men went down with the same injury the beginning of 2012 and Mularkey was baffled by it. Its football. Shit just happens sometimes. The only thing that I hate is that Allen Robinson is sidelined. He needs to be out there getting the experience. We already know what Shorts can do ao Im not largely concerned about him. Just let him rest the hammy and be ready for week one. But I will be watching Lee and Hurns tomorrow night. I think we have a good problem at WR. We havent had this much legit competition at that position in recent memory.

Overall Im excited. Last year we seen flashes of a team with a shit load of potential. I always think about the Denver game. They should have beat our ass in the turf, yet we went toe to toe with them for three quarters and had a very chance to win. They have what it takes. With the new additions I feel we will see a MUCH better team this year.

I totally agree on our potential, duvaldude08. I think our team has their minds right, and that's why they ended the season with a number of positive games last year. They act as a team: no showoffs, no locker room controversies, one for all and all for one. This concept is fundamental for success in this league, I believe.

Make or break for our "offensive weapon" Denard Robinson. I will definitely be keeping an eye on him this preseason.
