sounds like the issue is with people trying to get there just in time for the game.  I had no issue getting to MOSH at 4, walking over the bridge, and then hanging around the fan fest and getting my kid a scarf.

This was pretty much the same transportation scenario as the monster truck shows which draw even more fans than this event.  There are probably really good reasons why other events don't get the same treatment as Jags games and why the skyway is almost never running for any big events but what are those reasons?  Why put an emphasis on getting more events but then not adequately prepare for them?

It definitely was an issue more for those coming late I believe. But you had no water taxi, no stadium shuttles, two other events with traffic leaving just prior to soccer match and some say nearly 50% of those attending from outside of the area. And if a high percent of those were driving and not knowing where they were going only adding to the confusion. So a little bit of planning by locals attending would have resulted in much less angst. I arrived about 3:00 and had no problem. Had a friend who left Mandarin at 4:00 and took until 5:45 to find parking and then walk to stadium.  Sometime planning ahead even makes up for some of the city's incompentancies.

I wondered why the Sharks/Suns were moved to 3 instead of even earlier, like noon or 1.

^Oh, the boats were present. I had a nice view of them tied up at River City Brewing Company as I walked my bike over the one pedestrian lane on the Main Street Bridge that was the only access to downtown for hundreds of pedestrians and bikers on the Southbank.

I guess those were the old boats...or something else entirely.
