Bummed about Donovan, but really excited to see Aron Jóhannsson in a few weeks.

I dont know the Yeldin guy

Not a good day to close any downtown bridges. Has anybody thought to remind the city leaders of this?

I would say hopefully they don't need to be reminded. But....

@SoccerInsider: #USMNT ticket sales updates: 20,000 for Azerbaijan Tues in SF, 32,000 for Nigeria June 7 in Jacksonville

Good news

32k still seems low to me for a send off match. Hopefully that number can get closer to 50k in the next couple week.

Five days before the Scotland match, the number reported sold was 32k. And we ended up with 44k.

Given all of the events going on that day, the Suns announced Saturday that the first 3,000 (3pm game I believe) will get USMNT scarves for the evening match.  Nice touch.

The Suns are a classy organization.

Anyone tell JTA - might be a good day for shuttles

I think the Sharks are also at the Arena at 3 that day.

pretty uninspiring game last night,,,, granted Azerbaijan was playing behind the ball all night, but we didn't look sharp regardless.  I think that is the worst I have seen Bradley look in a long time, Jozy looked good holding up but not much else, defense was fine but completely untested.  I like Mix and Brad Davis looked much better than I remember, I was surprised he made the 23 but after watching him in the second half last night I can see why he is there.

any word on Clint's injury?  that was a little disconcerting as well.

Let's hope for a better showing on Sunday against Turkey.

Kling said Clint has a slight pull and should be fine in 3 or 4 days. They just didn't want to risk him in a friendly. There were some positives from last night. Jones showed he can stay under control and not get too far forward in the CDM of the diamond. Mix and Davis were quite good as you mentioned, and I thought Zusi did some nice things. He and Bedoya though both did get a little out of control at points and just gave the ball away for nothing which is worrying.

Mix and Bedoya tended to squeeze inside a lot and crowd Bradley, which could have had something to do with Bradley's subpar (by his standards) game.  I think Mix usually plays in the middle for his club team, but the only way he's going to get on the field for the USMNT is to play outside.  Since the diamond is relatively new for the USMNT, maybe that would explain some of the problems last night.

I was surprised at how small the crowd was at the game - under 25k.  Sacramento's under 2 hours away and they've had over 20k at a couple of their 3rd division games.  I know, a lot of those tickets may have been freebies, but still, even without drawing in people from 2 hours away you would think the Bay Area would have turned out more people than that regardless of the opponent.

i've read people saying the attendance was due to day of week, time of game, quality of opponent, traffic, venue, etc etc etc.  I think it was really sad to see such a small turnout for a send off game.  Hopefully Everbank looks much better on TV.  I also think Bradley isn't as comfortable with Jermaine behind him, doesn't trust him to stay in position.  He looked much better in the diamond with Beckerman against Mexico, and Beckerman passes out much better. But Beckerman can't get back as quick when needed, and JK really seems to value that.
