As a Jags fan, I can feel the excitement also, and fully believe Khan has some great ideas and there is a buzz about the franchise I haven't seen since the mid-nineties. Also, the talent and the coaching are stellar; I really look forward to great things this year.

Lucky Jags fans; I wish I could say we share the same excitement in the stands at FFC.

Where the news of members being (thus-far) shut out of Fulham friendly tickets (or not being given a ticket deal or a supporter section) is really making headlines is among the FFC fans in London. They see this slight --along with relegation -- as confirming all of their fears about an American owner who may not understand English soccer or prioritize the club. Yes, there's always a lot of whinging in England about foreign owners and much of it is both unfounded and uncomfortably xenophobic, but after this season, I can understand why the stands are worried about management's focus.

I have no problem with Jags fans getting free tickets. I have every problem with bringing FFC to town with no concern for stateside fans (who won't even get to see their weekly matches on TV next year thanks to relegation.) FFC supporter groups and members here were excited; and they were happy to travel to JAX.

Maybe find a way to transfer tickets from any Jags fans who aren't planning to attend to FFC fans for this game? Still the same number of tickets (season ticket holders). Just a thought.

any report on ticket sales for this?

Tix sales for USA-Nigeria in Jacksonville: 25,000+. Turkey at Red Bull Arena almost sold out. Azerbaijan in SF well behind #usmnt
that is a good start, for the Scotland game sales were at 30,000 five days prior to the game and it ended at 44,000+.  It looks likely they will at least match the Scotland attendance, and have at least chance to beat it pretty well.  It would be so awesome if they had enough sales to open the upper level, which was unsold for the Scotland game.

Is the game being marketed much in Jax?  I've relocated to Savannah and haven't heard a word up here.
now that I think about it, unless attendance is disappointing, they will have to sell the upper deck, they removed something like 7,000 mid level seats to install the new scoreboards and activities on the north side of the stadium.  anyone know the new lower & mid bowl capacity now?  seemed about 90% full when 44,000 were there for the Scotland game?

i should say ticketmaster shows an option for upper, but there are never any available

tufsu1

interesting...maybe that's why all the $38 tickets are gone...most were upper deck

fsquid

why won't they let you pick your section on ticketmaster?

Going to be crowded - there's a Shark's game in the afternoon, the Suns at 7pm, and downtown there will be a dance recital at TUPAC, and two events at the Convention Center - a women's career show and a gun show, and a concert at the Ritz.

I believe the boat race on the river is the same day as well...

Love these posters ESPN released for each WC team. If you'd like to check the rest out, here is the link.

Not a good day to close any downtown bridges. Has anybody thought to remind the city leaders of this?

Here's the USMNT's roster of 23 that are going to Brazil:

Quote2014 FIFA WORLD CUP – U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS (8 ): DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)
MIDFIELDERS (8 ): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Julian Green (Bayern Munich), Jermaine Jones (Besiktas), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

After naming the 30-man preliminary roster on May 12, the following seven players have been released from the U.S. MNT's training camp: forwards Terrence Boyd and Landon Donovan, midfielders Joe Corona and Maurice Edu, and defenders Brad Evans, Clarence Goodson and Michael Parkhurst.

I think this roster is as much about 2018 as it is about 2014.  I don't think Klinsmann would have felt comfortable making some of these moves if he hadn't received the recent contract extension.

I agree, and I like the looking forward. A lot of our core players are getting up there in age. Hopefully the no Donovan backlash won't be a distraction, or at least not too much of one.

I guess I haven't been paying much attention...a little sad to see him go but I'm not fretting it.
