Duval County already does an online auction for tax foreclosures. There are some excellent deals available.

I'm not a real estate wiz by no means, but I don't think that 1K homes would be good for Jax. They're only that cheap in Detroit because of it's struggling economy in the Rust Belt.

I do not believe the current sales are tied to a rehab requirement in any way.  Also, this type of thing, sell very cheap and requiring that the work be done, is mostly done to encourage growth in the urban cores.  In Jacksonville, we'd rather make it cheap for the developers to build new homes in the burbs than re-use the old in the Urban core.

Forget the fact that it will take months and lots of sweat equity. Far easier to buy new than rebuild and new smells better than old.
