Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

We need a mayor who isn't afraid to make the tough choices and also tell the taxpayers what they need to hear instead of what they want to hear.

I wonder if Crescembeni would ever run against Brown in the primary?  Did not use to be much of a fan of his but he as kind of grown on me.

A look at Bill Bishop's top priorities:

QuoteNewly announced mayoral candidate Bill Bishop said attracting more manufacturing jobs and streamlining the city's process for starting or expanding a business are his top economic development priorities.

"How you weed through the city process to start a business is cumbersome," said Bishop, a city councilman and architect with Akel Logan and Shafer PA. "It's not as bad as Miami by any stretch of the imagination, but by the same token it could be a lot better."

Florida has been mostly left out of the manufacturing boom in the rest of the Southeast, largely because of its higher electricity rates. Bishop said he would work with JEA to structure a rate system that's "more manufacturing friendly."

In a redux from the 2011 mayoral election, Downtown Jacksonville will also be a top priority. If he were mayor, Bishop said, the Downtown Investment Authority would work more closely with the mayor's office.

He also talks about his view on raising taxes, the pension situation and the human rights ordinance.

Every candidate can "sound good" on some issues.  I will always have trouble getting past the Mobility fee sell out by Mr. Bishop.  Unfortunate in a way because I liked him on some of the issues, but eventually, one's true colors can help but come out.

Looks like he is trying to compete for the liberal wing of the Republican Party, also known in Jacksonville as Democrats.

That should make things interesting.
His recent move to gut the Mobility Fee does not make him an automatic choice (for me) to unseat Brown.  But probably does for the development lobby.

Guess this means you forgot that Bishop was Council President when the mobility fee waiver extension idea came up....along with CW Boyer, Bishop was the strong voice saying NO.

Bill Bishop filed to run for Jacksonville mayor. It would be pretty surprising if Alvin doesn't return (objectively speaking) regardless of Brown's weaknesses in certain areas; Especially considering with people like Shad Khan behind him. More than not, if a major city mayor doesn't engage in some outrageous scandalous controversy, they will get an additional term; Hell, some still get that term.

Well Im not voting for Alvin again. He has shown absolutely nothing since hes been in office. Hell the city council has been running city hall if you ask me. I had high hopes for him and hes been a complete dud.
