Charlotte has a council-manager government. The city manager has most of the administrative duties.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

QuoteChief Admin Officer (Karen Bowling)

In case you have short memories, let me remind you that Karen Bowling was in the same successful business that brought her millions along with the Governor of Florida, Rick Scott. So she really does not need the salary of the city. She should do what Peyton did, as he did not need the salary either with a net worth of several millions, he donated his salary to charities in Jax.

But the perception is reality.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."
-Mayor Alvin Brown on new video boards at Everbank Field

good to know, just always found that weird when I lived there.  Would see McCrory in the Duke Energy building all the time and someone told me he still worked there!

^For reference, the city manager of Charlotte is paid $245,000 a year, and Charlotte has fewer people than Jax. Plus there's a mayor and a county government.

I think in a "City Manager" from of  government, the Mayor is the head of the legislative branch, similar to our Council President.  Jax Beach uses a city manager from of government.

I posted this on the first page and listed the salaries of most of the City (or County) Manager's in North Florida.

Maybe the consolidated form of Government has something to do with the larger salary...otherwise, I can't put my finger on it. However, other cities Mayoral salaries are considerably less than "BIG JAX."

No, not really when you account for population. The mayor of Miami-Dade County gets paid more than the mayor of Doral, FL.
