Parking problems in the Riverside area are now drawing the attention of city parking enforcement.

Areas surrounding popular nightspots near Park and College Street have become a nuisance for patrons and homeowners. As the spots fill up, people begin parking in adjacent neighborhoods - many times blocking driveways or even parking in people's yards.

Now if that happens, people will likely be ticketed.

In the decade Carol Muttillo has lived in the neighborhood, she has seen parking overflow from King Street down to her street and progressively worsen.

And what about the assholes that straddle the sidewalk with their cars, completely blocking the sidewalks from pedestrians like myself and others with disabilities?! Can they please be ticketed, or better yet towed?!

As long as the ticketing is for legitimate reasons and parking and no parking signs are well marked, then I don't have an issue with this.

I have found that leaving a polite note under the windshield wipers works really well for most people.  It's thoughtlessness mostly from people who don't use sidewalks themselves.

I think a  simple solution would be to maybe hit up FCCJ Kent Campus and see if their parking lot/ garage could be used during say the hours of 9PM- 2AM on Weekends and have JTA run a  Riverside looking trolley bus back and forth from a  few stops in Riverside to the parking lot. Would that maybe work? Its  obvious no streetcar would come anytime soon.

Ticket and tow the violators, uphold the law, give us all something to complain about! Love it!

What does Jacksonville do about street sweeping?  Perhaps if the city had a budget that paid for things like city services, there would be street sweeping on major thoroughfares and people would be forced to grow accustomed to city parking, which is multifaceted (don't block driveways - that's a BIG no no in any city, be mindful of posted street sweeping schedules and go for streets not bound to be swept at 6 the next AM, etc etc)

I rented a car recently for some personal use and it took me 2 hours to find a spot - a mile away from where I lived, but I felt fortunate.  I even tried a motor inn, and tried to bribe the clerk to get me a spot, but they were full!  The more difficult it is to park, the more people will become accustomed to cabbing it and using public transit, carpooling at the very very least.

I put a service ticket in with COJ to get some broken glass removed from the street over a month ago. I believe the ETA given for completion was late February.

In perhaps what was a pivotal event in St Johns Village formal proceedings, a spirited retailer based across the street announced that unauthorized vehicles on his property would be seized, tires clamped- a revenue stream!!
And jaws dropped- he wuz not kidding........

How much glass are we talking about here.  Last time I had glass in my street I pulled out a broom and swept it up.  I don't always want to wait on the city.
