I don't believe it, wow; I just went there a couple of weeks ago. That Wells Road location will be one of eight nationwide Targets that will be slated to close. I can't stand it when a large store closes, leaving behind these vast empty voids. :(

I guess that means another Starbucks closing too - if not already (wasn't there one inside?).  World Market was in that center & closed not too long ago as well.

^^^Yup, it has a Starbucks in there. I wonder do those recent financial information breaches, and these closings have any correlation.

So the Oakleaf Target has taken business away from this one?

& Roosevelt.....and the Fleming Island location recently added a grocery component.  I miss the garden centers though....

Wow, surprising. Don't think I have ever heard of a Target closing. I have not been to the Wells location recently but it used to be very busy.

I am surprised the Roosevelt location is not closing. Was there a few weeks ago while visiting friends in Ortega. It was probably the worst Target I have ever seen. Not well organized. Not very clean. Very Walmartesque.

I guess the Ortega location gets more business than the Wells Rd. Store.
Target only had Garden Centers in its Florida stores and the only one that made money in town and perhaps the state was the one at Jax Beach, until Home Depot opened.

I go there very frequently and never have any of those problems. It seems organized to me; Explain specifically what do you mean by it being unorganized? Department stores within the same company often have differing layouts, which can lead to a lil confusion if you're familiar with a certain store. My only little nit pick with the Roosevelt location is that they often don't have many registers open.

Which is why I go to Publix for groceries, they will not hesitate to have 20 registers open and all hands on deck to take care of customers in line. Target could care less. Even Wal-Mart has more registers open on a daily basis.

^^^I'm not big on Publix, but you're spot on with that assessment.

Agree. I used to like Target because it was a better shopping experience than Walmart. I hated Walmart never having nearly enough registers open. I went to the Target at Beach/Hodges the week before Christmas and they had maybe 4 registers open on a Saturday and probably 5 people in each line. It was ridiculous. I think the quality of Target has really diminished over the years.

Overstreet

The Wells road Target was the first Target Store in Jacksonville. After that was Regency and Southside. The Wells road site was previously an apartment complex before the Target moved in there. Target was the first store in that plaza. The HD and others came after Target. It was the prototype Target store for the system and had district offices located adjacent to the security and office area.
