he probably could have used the 2 minute advantage he is always talking about.

The story on news4jax now mentions beer found in his jeep in various states of consumption, including an open cold one in the center console.

This goes beyond should have called a cab... Dude obviously has a problem; horrible judgement at a minimum.

Deegan plead not guilty in court yesterday. I could be wrong, but my gut is telling me that he's somehow gonna get a slap on the wrist, in comparison with the average Joe Blow with a DUI.

If he completes a self-submitted treatment plan before his next hearing and if this is his first offense, there is a good chance he will get probation + court costs.

I hope he is in a good treatment center, everyone makes mistakes and gets on a roll. Hopefully this is the wake up call.

I wish him the best.

The Court case he might get a slap on the wrists, but the DMV part is serious. I doubt he gets to skate there.

Has Deegan ever been arrested for DUI before this? Does anyone know what he is doing to collect a paycheck? Has this arrest and subsequent voluntary firing affected his marriage? Has anyone seen Deegan around town?

Is anything private for a local weatherman?

I think that local media people have it relatively easy compared to larger media markets.

Looks like he got probation.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised, although IMO he deserved a harsher punishment.

Where are people getting that he was fired? I know he hasn't been on TV since his arrest, but the wording of that WOKV article implies he's still employed by First Coast News.

Also, yes, Deegan's sentence is normal for a first-time offense.

Why? Isn't that the same punishment you or I would get? I think it is. But I wouldn't have lost my job.

There has been no press release that he has lost his job.
I think his license should have been suspended for the maximum time for a first offense as well.  Having had friends killed by drunk drivers I don't have much sympathy for those who get caught driving under the influence.

EDIT:  Just heard on the radio that his license was suspended, so I think the punishment is more in line with what I would be satisfied with.

Damn near impossible to escape the DMV punishment.

I guess that he's now obligated to do some cheesy DUI awareness campaign on FCN that talks about all of the consequential issues that's involved with it. I'm sorry, I'm so damn sarcastic sometimes.  :-[
