Town Center Phase Three Rumored Retail

Had a conversation with a store manager in the Town Center this afternoon. Looks like some retail has already been secured for the new phase, but none of it is approaching the "luxury" that was purported. There are only 8 stores being built in addition to the Nordstrom. So far we have:

A two-story Disney Store
A furniture store called Arhaus (www.arhaus.com)
and
A local salon

I hope future announcements are a little more exciting.

Also, keep in mind that Phase 2 was 40 stores and 4 restaurants. Seems we're running out of steam with this newest addition.

Per Ms Mathis in the Record:

The city approved:

• The shell for a two-story, 19,400-square-foot building at 4828 River City Drive at a project cost of $1.52 million.

• The shell for a one-story, 16,600-square-foot building at 4818 River City Drive at a project cost of $1.47 million.

• An open canopy of 850 square feet at 4814 River City Drive at a project cost of $377,176.

• A parking addition of 263 spaces at 5221 Big Island Drive, near Ethan Allen and Ovinte. Those are part of the 600 additional spaces being added to the center. The others are in the east parking lot.

The new parking lots should be completed by Nov. 15.

The $6 million, 127,000-square-foot Nordstrom building already is under construction by IBEX Construction Florida LLC and the framework is visible behind construction barriers. A permit application shows the interior Nordstrom build-out is expected to cost $25 million. Nordstrom also will feature one of its Ebar coffee shops.

Landlord Simon Property Group has confirmed that Natural Life, Swim n' Sport and Arhaus furniture will join the estimated eight stores in the new wing.

The other new retailers have not been announced, but a site plan has shown Disney and Free People could be among them, although Simon has not confirmed those.

Does anyone know the size of the Nordstrom in Florida Mall? I hope that in the future SJTC gets a Hugo Boss store. There was a sign up for short time where Tiffany went in. Also in the original announcement there was going to be Sur La Table, Crate & Barrel and Restoration Hardware but I guess the economic downturn changed their plans. I still think all of those stores have a market here. And I am still hoping for a Saks and or Neiman Marcus. Although lower on my list is Macy's which I think would be a much better alternative to Belk. I still find it hard to believe that Jacksonville is the only major city in Florida without a Macy's. Daytona, Ocala and Gainesville, all of Tampa Bay, all of Miami and Ft Lauderdale all the cities on the west coast south of Tampa and of course Central Florida have a store or stores. Of course many were formerly Burdines's but Macy's also bought other department store chains and converted them. I heard rumor that they wanted to open in the Parisian in the Avenues but Belk wouldn't allow that to happen. If they had I figure they would have found at least another location possible Orange Park to build a 2nd store. I'm sure someday they will be here.
Also does anyone know when or what will be happening in the next phase of River City Market Place?

The article above said that the SJTC Nordstrom is gonna have 127,000 square footage,  same as the Mall at Wellington Green. Boy Simms, you love these comparison lists LOL.

I love Nordstroms and it would be wonderful when they open...I would also love a Crate and Barrel and a Restoration Hardware...

Does the inclusion of the Ebar preclude a full Nordstrom Cafe?

Is Nordstroms 'luxury'?

No, though it's one notch above anything offered in Jax now.  It's in same league as Bloomingdale's and Lord & Taylor (though more "masses" imo).  Luxury is reserved for Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barney's, and a couple of other smaller dept stores, though Nordstrom will carry some of the same stuff :)
