George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer acquitted of murder in the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has been detained as authorities investigate a domestic incident in Lake Mary, police confirmed.

Police are investigating a "possible domestic battery" involving Zimmerman on Sprucewood Road, Lake Mary police Officer Zach Hudson said this afternoon. The police spokesman said it was his understanding that a gun was involved.

Hudson said the investigation is in its early stages, and it was unclear whether Zimmerman or anyone would be arrested. No significant injuries were suffered in the incident, Hudson said.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.

Sounds like OJ. Get off and still can't find a way to stay out of trouble.

"What goes around comes around."  This man will be his own undoing.  Let's just hope he doesn't take another life while he is busy acting like a superhero in his own personal fantasy.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I don't know about you guys, but if I got away with murder, I'm going somewhere and sitting my ass down.

While I would like to see Zimmerman end up spending a very long time behind bars, I don't want anyone else to die for it to happen. Maybe he can go on a fatality-free spree of holding up Dunkin Donuts throughout central Florida. He can fire guns at the muffin racks but not hit anyone.

He is a lost soul. George has been pulled over 2 or 3 times I believe by police for speeding? It looks as he is crying out trying to tell anyone that would listen that he needs help.

You're right. Let's hope that he doesn't hurt more people and, I think, you have to hope that mercy and forgiveness kind of prevail in his life. That's hard to say but I would have no problem saying it for someone stuck in prison. Love him or hate him he did what he did and people need forgiveness; especially, if they're looking for it. I hope he's looking for it...

Wife says George Zimmerman threatened her, but won't press charges
Shellie Zimmerman in 911 call: "I'm really, really scared."

Police were called to Lake Mary to respond to a domestic dispute call that came from the wife of George Zimmerman.

George Zimmerman's wife called 911 on Monday afternoon to report that her husband was threatening her family, but she later declined to press charges, police confirmed.

Lake Mary police Officer Zach Hudson said Shellie Zimmerman had called 911 about 3 p.m., saying George Zimmerman was threatening she and her father with a weapon in a house on Sprucewood Drive.

In a 911 call released by police, Shellie Zimmerman tells a dispatcher that her husband had "his hand on his gun and he keeps saying step closer."

"Step closer and what?" a dispatcher asks.

"And he's going to shoot us," Shellie Zimmerman replies.

However, Lake Mary police Chief Steve Bracknell confirmed about 4:30 p.m. that Shellie Zimmerman and her father, David Dean, had signed paperwork declining to press charges.

"They both have declined to press charges against George," Bracknell said. "We have no victim no crime."

The incident played out at a house where, the Sentinel reported earlier Monday, Zimmerman and his wife lived during his high-profile trial in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Hudson said earlier that Zimmerman was not detained and was not in custody. The police spokesman said Zimmerman has been cooperating with police.

Bracknell said police would document the incident thoroughly in case Shellie Zimmerman or her father changed their minds.

In the 911 call, Shellie Zimmerman says her husband punched her father, leaving a mark on his face.

"He's shaking, he says he feels like he's going to have a heart attack, his nose might be broken," she said, describing her father.

"I'm really, really afraid," Shellie Zimmerman said. "I don't know what he's capable of. I'm really, really scared."

At another point in the call, she warned her father to stay away from her husband: "Dad get inside the house, George might start shooting at us."

After reports that Zimmerman was in police custody, reporters and news crews flooded Sprucewood Road. Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, arrived at the scene about 4:10 p.m.

The police chief said about 3:30 p.m. Shellie Zimmerman and her father were consulting with their attorney to decide whether to give a sworn statement or press charges.

A gray Honda Ridgeline, similar to one driven by Zimmerman when he was ticketed last week in Lake Mary was parked out front if the house, the same one where the couple had lived in hiding between September and at least the end of Zimmerman's trial July 13.

Zimmerman had successfully kept his hideout a secret for a year, but on Monday that fell apart when his estranged wife called police.

Three news helicopters hovered overhead at 3:30p.m. and TV news trucks lined what had been a very quiet residential street near Seminole State College.

In her divorce petition filed last week Shellie Zimmerman wrote that the couple had separated Aug. 13.

A former Neighborhood Watch volunteer, Zimmerman was aquitted in July of murder in Feb. 26, 2012, the killing of Trayvon, an unarmed Miami Gardens teenager.

Zimmerman said he fired on the teen in self-defense. The case sparked outrage and widespread protests when Zimmerman wasn't immediately arrested by police in Sanford.

Forgiveness does go along way. And George has to forgive himself and get the Mental Health he needs. Or the next time he is pulled over by a policeman he may point his gun at an officer without any bullets? And be killed it's called Suicide by Cop.

Looks like everyone may be wrong.  Miss Shellie may be... um... er... exaggerating the entire incident.

QuoteLake Mary Police are now questioning the validity of several statements Shellie Zimmerman made when she told 911 dispatchers her estranged husband, George Zimmerman, threatened her and her father at gunpoint Monday afternoon.

They have a pending divorce case, I wouldn't believe a word either he or the wife says. It's like clockwork, probably 2/3 of the time when the disso gets rolling, out come the domestic and child abuse allegations to try and get a leg up in the proceedings. This is absolutely par for the course, not surprising at all, it happens in a majority of divorces.

No doubt... George would be smart to stay completely away from her.  Of course stepping away from confrontation is apparently not one of his strong suites...
