QuoteMAYOR URGES RESIDENTS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE HOUSING SERVICES

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 3, 2013 – With Jacksonville recently ranked as the top city in the nation for foreclosures, Mayor Alvin Brown and Rep. Corrine Brown will join the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) to announce a homeownership and foreclosure prevention event in the Jacksonville area.

WHEN:          Wednesday, Sept. 4; 10:30 a.m.

WHERE:       725 Cherry Bark Dr. N. – 32218

WHO:             Mayor Alvin Brown

                        Congresswoman Corrine Brown

                        Bruce Marks, CEO, NACA

So I receive this press release...given that we have such a high # of foreclosures in JAX, I'm all for giving some free foreclosure prevention assistance to our citizens. It's needed. But why is there a special press release for this NACA group? Action News highlighted some negative experiences with this group...

Legal Aid offers FREE foreclosure prevention assistance as do many other area not for profits. Why not promote all of these agencies?

Anyone heard of this group and know if they are OK?

Stand by for Ice Cream Al's next press event..."How I promote tourism for Jacksonville"

And when the press will tell him that Visit Jacksonville already does press events for tourism, his response will be "Who?"

he seems like quite the activist against predatory lenders. being arrested several times for protests one on courthouse steps at a GA foreclosure sale and once in congress.

i'm just wondering if anyone out there has used their services and can recommend that they have been helped to get a loan modification or are they just selling their own mortgages?
