Did mtrain just start following football this year? Maybe he missed it when the Jags went 3-1 in the 2012 preseason only to go on to a franchise worst of 2-14 during the regular season.

You know, the regular season. The one that counts.

QuoteWe all know Shorts has beyond proven his self.

Proven his self? How, by leading the team to a 2-14 season? He's a nice receiver, but he needed help. Blackmon, in his first year had almost the same number of yards, Blackmon is the money. He is the next Jimmy Smith. Oh, yeah, and Jimmy Smith is the greatest WR the Jaguars have ever had, even though he had drug problems off the field. But he had Keenan Mccardell to help carry the load. You need a good 2-receiver set to spread the field. Smith and Mccardell helped the Jags get to the playoffs, back when they went 14-2 in a season, for those of you Millenials who weren't even born then.

DD - What is your take on the heart of this 0-3 preseason team, no Jaguar team has ever gone 0-4 in preseason. None. Does this team lack the heart to get the job done on the field? They sure don't play like they have what it takes to be champions.

I initially responded to this differently, but I removed it because I remember I have to take a different appraoch with you. About SHorts neededing help, did you not watch the games last season? From Game one, Shorts was playing lights out, while Blackmon was pretty much a non factor. Actually, Blackmon looked terrible until week 8 @ the Texans. Did you not remember the two clutch TD passes Shorts caught during game one and game three? Or better yet how he completely destroyed the Packers defense all on his own? How he caught a deep bomb from Gabbert @ the Raiders? Meanwhile, Blackmon was a NON FACTOR and looked completely lost, was dropping balls, and running the wrong routes. So, please tell me who helped shorts again?????

In regard to the preseason. In 2012 we went 3-1 in the preseason, then 2-14 in the regular season? So whats your point?

I might be speaking out of turn, but when have I ever cared?

I'm going to direct all questions about, "The Importance of Winning in the Preseason" to a coach who's out there 'playing to win':

REPORTER:  Coach Ryan, we understand that you think it's important to win in the preseason.  Would you please give us your thoughts on record.

I LIKE TO WIN.  DAMN THE CONSEQUENCES!

REPORTER:  Okaaayyyy..    So you are willing to risk injury to your starters to win a meaningless game?

Didn't I already tell you that I like to win, damn the consequences?  What part of, "DAMN THE CONSEQUENCES", don't you guys get?  Yes.  I'm willing to risk injury to my starters if it means winning the game.

REPORTER:  Can we assume, coach, that you put Sanchez in harm's way, not to win a game, but to give Geno the chance to start for the opener?

Well, obviously y'all know my love and admiration for Mark...

but if you didn't hear my first comment, damn it, I said I want to win.  DAMN THE CONSEQUENCES!

I mean....  How in the hell do you guys think we're going to win with shit like this going on:

I'm not taking any more questions, but I'm leaving you guys with these this:  There are only two things more important in the preseason than winning football games, and I truly believe this, but if you're going to coach your team to the  next level you have to do two things UN-FUCKING-EQUIVICALLY ON A REGULAR BASIS!

Just the fact that you chose a coach, hell a whole team and owner who care more about publicity (good or bad) than how they play on Sunday shows just how out of touch you are. The Jets are known, and more importantly their owner is known for making more profit off of staying in the news with ridiculous stories (Tebow anyone?) than he would ever get from a SB appearance.

If that was directed to my 'I-didn't-think-it-was-a-too-subtle-mockery-of-MTrain' above, then I suppose that you missed this...

QuoteI'm sorry, sir, are you too fucking obtuse to realize that we didn't play our #1WR but for only a few plays so he didn't re-injure his leg in a meaningless game?

The only one obtuse is obviously yourself, the impact Blackmon has on the field is obvious, he has more people covering him to allow more options for the offense. I can draw you a picture sometime of how it all works. He still had 4 receptions and that 979 yard receiver only 1, was a nice one, but still only 1.

But hey, its preseason and I know it means the world to you, so I am sure it was a nice 20 yard reception.

When did I or anyone else here discredit or take anything away from Blackmon?  I agree that he impacts the game when on the field, but he's far from the only one.

Did you watch Ace Sanders play in college?  He's not as large as Blackmon, but he's much faster and may have even better hands.  CSIII is a solid receiver, but you won't acknowledge it.

And as good as Blackmon might be, he's not Calvin Johnson.  CJ is the only WR since, Irvin?, who has made such an individual impact on the field.  Not Fitzgerald, not Andre Johnson, not Julio Jones....  Blackmon needs the supporting cast around him, just as those other players do.  And we seem to be a helluva lot closer to that this year, with limited samples than we were last year in the middle of the season.

Pre-season football is about seeing a few series of your A-players going live against an opponent with no one getting hurt.  I don't care that final score says we lost.  When it mattered, we were in the lead, just as we were last week against Buttfumble and the Green Turds.

The Dolphins game was atrocious all around, but it was also the first game of the season, so somewhat expected.   And next week will be a series or two MAYBE for the starters, so we can lose 52-0 and I won't care.

Ask me how I feel we're doing around week 4-5, and I'll give you more reasoned response, but for now, I think we're playing better than expected.

Just seen an article finally mentioning the upgrades. (shockingly Ive lost where I got it from LOL) Its look like that capitol projects for 2013-2014 is not even coming up to 100 million, and that is without the stadium upgrades included. ( they stated Capitol projects usually come up to around $140 million each year. So they are way under that number). Another thing I like to see is them break down who is paying what. Everyone is annoying the hell outta calling it the "$43 million dollar scoreboard project." The damn scoreboards do not cost $43 million dollars. The team is actually funding the majority for the scoreboards. The team is paying $20 million and the city is only ask to pay $6.5 million. The rest of the upgrades I think is the sticking point. At the very most, I think they will phase the upgrades. The scoreboard first, then the second phase being the party deck. Either way, stuff like this always gets done somehow.

QuoteIf you knew nothing else about football, last preseason should've taught you that those games hold no bearing on the regular season.

bird - lol, if I am troll-ish, you are prickly and very sensitive to anyone with a thought outside your own. But this adds flavor to the roadkill that is discussed for a 2-14 team. As a season ticket holder, I have just as much right to discuss as I see it. Read it or not, 0-3 is what it is for this previous 2-14 team. The Facts are what they are.

Bird - The Jags should hire you to help convert oxygen to carbon dioxide, you do it very well!  :o

QuoteIn regard to the preseason. In 2012 we went 3-1 in the preseason, then 2-14 in the regular season? So whats your point?

From the 2-14 season, into 0-3, the team does not look to be improving much. Blown out in the first two games, looked better in the 3rd, probably should have won it, but they should have beaten the Vikings last year in game 1 as well. My point is that they do not appear to have a lot of depth. Losing Rackley in the first series did not help the running game, yeah Todman had a nice long run, but that was later against scrubs. Just my observations.

Blackmon's rookie season was last year. Again, he was a ROOKIE, he showed promise in some games, looked lost in others, but it was his rookie season. The scout buddies I know at the Jags, say the biggest difference between the college and pro levels, is speed. I give all rookies that break in year one, then they learn what they need to do to stay in the league. Blackmon has already upped his game in preseason. Sucks that he has to sit out, but its the NFL's sandbox and he has to play by their rules. I see him being a major factor when he returns, a Jimmy Smith type factor.

So you spend money on season tickets for a team you consistently berate? Looking at all your posts, you never actually contribute positive input. Almost every post is in the negative, and a high majority seem to be just written to incite others, like me. You must be so proud of yourself. And I can understand a lot of people whom I don't agree with, I do it every day. But they, unlike you, at least have solid facts and reasoning for their opinions. Heck I love the Jags, I would pay them if they hired me to convert oxygen into carbon dioxide, would be the easiest job I have ever had.

Henne is who I knew he was all along, and Jordan Todman is very talented. Screw the talk about Todman making the team hell, how can you not find a place for this guy on the field?
