Quite possibly.

What was on that parcel before it got torn down to make way for the Dollar Store?  Anything worth saving?

Nothing worth saving.  An old abandoned fast food chinese restaurant and an auto repair shop.

Sweet a Dollar Store.:(  Any clue on what the actual building is going to look like?  Standard Dollar Store?

None of this is the fancy condo/grocery store going in near "my house" is it? (Okay, I didn't buy it but DAMN I like it!)

No clue on what its going to look like.  It falls outside of the overlay district, so I would not expect anything other than a typical box, which I'm fine with, as long as parking is in the rear.  Beggars can't be choosy.  That area of Main Street hasn't seen any new construction in over 20 years.

Gotcha 17th street/Main.  I just saw the street sign.  Makes more sense now.

Well, they were originally thinking of putting one between 8th and 9th on main street and they were not wanting
to push the parking behind at that location.  So something tells me they aren't going to try it at this location.

anyone know if he is being fined by code compliance? if he hasn't been in compliance, and has been receiving the $250/day fine piling up on his ticket, the city can foreclose. not sure what would happen to first position lender in this situation?

maybe all of the folks who clearly have no intention of doing anything with their properties in Springfield should suffer this fate. then all springfielders and other urban advocates would have to worry about is bank and city razing it to build surface parking!

That's funny ???. They're building a Family Dollar store down the road on Atlantic Blvd. In fact, there used to be a Campeche Bay Restaurant on the same spot! Main Street is not such a bad place to put that particular store there though ;).

I hope the increased activity helps Fred Cotten's BBQ across the street.  They've been struggling a bit lately.

Well, Family Dollar is the Target for the new economy.  ;)

Premier/Quality Foods is dead! Building emptied of food/perishables (if you can call what was carried in there "food"), freezers defrosted, only fixtures remain, and entries closed up. Anyone know a bowling alley/roller rink operator?

Well, Family Dollar is the Target for the new economy.  ;)

I was out in the "new economy" yesterday afternoon.  I had to meet someone at St Johns Towncenter.  Parking lots filled to the gills... long lines a virtually all the restaraunts, stores full of shoppers.  Seems to be an awful lot of disposable income being spent in the "new economy". ;)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."
