Qdoba to close all Northern Florida locations

I got this email from Qdoba Corporate today. I saw an earlier post about a new Qdoba at Deerwood Station, but then I got this. We frequented the one at SJTC quite often and were glad they remodeled it last year. Sorry to see them go unless of course this is a hoax.

An Important Message from Qdoba

Dear XXXX,

We're sorry to announce that all locations in Northern Florida will be closing on Friday, June 28 at 3:00 p.m. It's been great serving you, and we thank you for your patronage. We hope we can share delicious meals with you again in the future.

Your feedback is important to us, so if you have any questions, please contact us at Social@Qdoba.com and we will respond as soon as possible.

All the best,

Your friends at the Jacksonville Qdoba

I believe it may be some sort of hoax, based on:

1. Not reported on their web site, which would typically be updated before mass emails were sent
2. Their northern Florida locations consist of only one current location, SJTC.
3. What has been reported by business news and confirmed by filings with the State is a new location planned for Deerwood
4. Placing a time on it.  Hoaxes usually use little details to make it seem as though it must be authentic.  By putting 3pm, the brain typically responds positively to that "factual" indicator. When, in reality a business that serves lunch and dinner would not open for business for a "half-day" on their closing day.

What I believe this to be is the work of a hacker.  It would provide an influx of emails, slowing their servers and doing not much more than causing a nuisance, but that seems to be the goal that misfits seem to attain.

Then again, stranger things have happened.  Hopefully not true, because that is one of my favorite places in that area of town.

One of my colleagues loves Qdoba and when we're traveling, at least 1 stop is inevitable... and I hate that place. Here's why:

Step 1 - steam a tortilla for 15 seconds or until sopping wet.
Step 2 - take the now cold & wet tortilla and add 1 scoop of cold, dog food quality meat
Step 3 - add toppings; lettuce - shredded cheese - boring salsa

And Viola! You have a terrible cold, wet taco!
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

That sounds delicious to me! Do you like Chipotle or Moe's or any of those places that do the exact same thing?

This thread really needs to meet the thread about the new 'dob' opening up.
Qdoba used to be my favorite of the chain places, and when I first moved here I enjoyed the one at SJTC. However, at some point their quality dropped way off and it seemed like the customers followed. I think this is isolated to that location, however, but it may have improved since I haven't been back in a couple years now.

They are all pretty much the same. I take my kids to Moe's sometimes because they eat free on Tuesday. And Chipotle (at least the last time I went) charges extra for chips. Hearing people talk about Chipotle, you'd think it was revolutionary. Probably the most overrated fast casual type restaurant I can think of.

No. I've had decent food from Chipotle... Moe's is terrible. I consider these to be the 'subway' of Mexican food. Taco Bell would be step up. I'll put the beef Meximelt & Doritos Locos up against any cold taco from Qdoba or Moe's.

Burn.

Not sure if it really counts as a chain or not but I do enjoy Sierra Grille.  There's used to be one on Baymeadows @ Southside but now I think the only one is in Jax Beach at the end of JTB.

My imitation of one of the sounds of Everbank Field  on gameday.

"East side, Welcome to.... moe's Welcome to....Moe's! West side, Welcome to....MOE'S!!!!!!! Welcome to....MOE'S!!!!!!!!! West win's again" LOL

Of course the side that you call last (which is always the West) are gonna be the loudest, because they are all prepared and ready to go. It's good to be in the West  side of the stadium. :)

Real shame, and also rather odd, if true.

Really friendly, long-time staff in there.

Well there it is, yes very odd.  But apparently, at least of those on this forum, it wasn't a huge success.

Always seems busy, at least at lunch time.

They get a ton of business from the Paul Mitchell school next door too.

Went to one Qdoba in my life, ATL Hartsield-Jackson Airport. Subpar at best. Like Chipotle but with less flavor. Hate to see another business go (in general), but really don't care about this one. They didn't have a business in the Core, anywho.

They were in Riverside for a few years, where Five Guys is now.

Quite liked that location.
