2013 Vehicular Traffic Study Now Underway

Roosevelt south of McDuff
Stockton off ramp from I-10 East
Blanding overpass between Lake shore and FCCJ Kent campus

where else?

Are these related to the ($60k) traffic study previously publicized by RAP, CM Jim Love, The Resident?
Why is the world full of humans a lot less friendly than we ought to be?

Yes, the City Council canned the Mobility Plan which funds the streetcar and at least in part, commuter rail, bus and possibly (down the road) a Skyway expansion...

Next step, widen St. Johns, Riverside, Park, College or Post to.. um... 4-6 lanes. But hey, we could just take out the houses on only one side of whichever street we choose... hope it isn't yours.

I've seen the counter hoses in Arlington, too, so probably not directly connected to a study in Riverside.

But, Ock, without the Mobility Fee, the City can't afford to widen those streets, either!  :)

No, that traffic study has not materialized.

Don't you worry Charles, 'uncle Scott' will find a way to pay for more asphalt. You've heard the arguments, 'roads = wise public investment', mass transit = bank breaking subsides.  ;)

No, that traffic study has not materialized. 

my understanding is the consultant doing the parking study has recently been given Notice to Proceed

Having found the center point of the intersection of Herschel/St.Johns, I measured east a 50ft radius (dreaming of a roundabout like Naldo/SanMarco) and discovered that a roundabout is possible provided a crescent shape sliver of frontage at 4000 st.Johns ave (roughly 25ft wide at its widest) could be dedicated to such a useful makeover.

My question is, how can someone like myself who has no standing in the matter push a dream to reality?

I can picture it and see how such a makeover would improve the flow and enhance the safety and especially the beauty with a focal point in the sight line of every property within several hundred yards in each direction.

I am guessing that if the developer may no longer be on the hook for the $800k contribution to the creek, then $ for a roundabout may be tough to find as well.

What can you tell me?

With SR211 being in the care of the DOT, and this segment of the route was recently resurfaced, and I am assuming the accident count must be very low at this intersection, I am wondering does the DOT tend to avoid the hassle of redesigning for the sake of beauty when the intersection geometry has remained unchanged for so long and there aren't any associated dangers with the way as it is?   

OR, should I not quit dreaming?
