One Spark Creators: Tell us about your idea

I am particularly excited about the Kona School.  They are creator #8 and are housed at Burrito Gallery.  James will be talking about Kona School at the pitch deck in Hemming Plaza today at 5:15pm.

I also invite you to come to Burrito Gallery and dive into the Kona School learning environment by way of the Ipads and Tablets set up at their creator space.




A brief overview:

By incorporating the most innovative instructional strategies with progressive technology, a focus on healthy living, and green campus construction, the mission of Kona School is to inspire in each student a desire to learn creatively, think independently, and act responsibly.

At the heart of Kona School’s pioneering approach to educating students are eight essential elements that significantly improve a student’s ability to learn effectively and prepare for careers in an evolving marketplace. These core elements are as follows:

• Blended Learning model integrating teaching-to-learn and project-based learning practices

• Intentional parental engagement framework

• Learning coaches who personalize instruction

• Enterprise and Entrepreneurial skills training including business development, marketing, graphic design, video editing, and print media

Not only am I casting my vote for Kona School, I'll be donating money to them as well (you get some swag for donating, FYI).  I encourage you to check out the website and visit them at Burrito Gallery over the next few days.  This is a really innovative project that could become a model for education... and it starts right here in the Bold New City of the South.

I'm sure these budding enterpreneurs have somehow legally protected/copyrighted/patented their ideas so no one tries to steal them and "build a better mousetrap"...?
