For what it's worth, I do like some rap. When I said it's gibberish, I meant Rick Ross. NO shame in that Biggy, 2pac, Dre, Snoop game. I grew out of my rap phase years ago, but some of that stuff is gold. It's the new stuff I can't stand...you know, talking about bling, crack, hoes, cars, etc.

Well now some of Biggy stuff was exactly clean now. But I loved his music also! I think because he was creative and I also loved the beats to his song.

I like his music because each song is almost like story-telling (in a weird way). The lyrics, no matter how whack, actually mattered. The beats were good, and there was a level of greatness to it.

Sometimes your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your flashy ways
Guess that's why they broke, and you're so paid (uh)

One of my favorite songs. And I have NEVER been a fan of hip hop, but he was different.

Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, can't you see
Somehow your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your jazzy ways

I never could get into him. I tried, though. I think the second album was really ruined by Puff Daddy's vocal "contributions" to all of the tracks. I did like "Mo' Money Mo' Problems" though.

I'll admit I liked biggy, and I liked a lot of hip hop in the 90s, it was still music back then. Rick Ross is a different story though, I just can't listen to it, I don't know what it is, it's just like fingernails on a blackboard. The fact that I'm in my 30s now and have developed allergies to hipsters, facial piercings, etc. has, I'm sure, nothing whatsoever to do with it. I'm not getting old, it's just one real big disturbing coincidence.

Yep, could care less who the performer is. I am not a fan of Kenny G's music, but if he was 1/2 as popular as Rick Ross and he wanted to make a music video in Jax I'd be all for it. Think this thread went way off topic lol.

It sucks Lake didn't go out to the video shoot to take better pictures than these. Still, its cool of Rick Ross to show Duval County so love.

Oh, here's a thread topic referring to music that I hate, I have no interest in, and limited knowledge on; So I'm gonna chime in and bash it for the hell of it just to troll. Viola, mission accomplished!!!!

I would love to know what kind of music/artist does these 'rap haters' on here like to listen to; Who knows, some of their stuff I probably would listen to. Too bad some people have to be so close-minded, with the proverbial 'tunnel vision' like only one kind of music exists...

but a lot of people in Jacksonville suffer from that sort of prejudice & bias, not everyone is allowed to play Jacksonville. Now if this was T McGrall or Skynard type of band shooting a video on the brigde the trolls would hold their stones. Rick Ross & production staff choose Jacksonville Florida to do his version of craft, plus he choose to showcase downtown.

I'm from Polk County and he mentions it more than Jax in Box Chevy.  I wonder did he roll to my home turf and shoot some video as well?

This isn't cool at all have you listened to this song? But to think that since the City of Jacksonville is in the video well then who cares what the LYRICS are?

[Skit]
[Intro: Rick Ross]
I smell pu--y on these ni--as man
C’mon let do it

[Bridge: Rick Ross]
I try to let you pu--y ni--as eat
It's time to put your pu--y boys to sleep
Pu--y ni--as always wanna talk
I'm busy gettin pu--y like a f--kin boss

[Verse 1: Rick Ross]
I smell a pu--y from a block away
Lets shoot them pu--ies from a block away
They wanna see a ni--a in a cage
Baby mama gone should a ni--a wage
I just went and got the Chevy sprayed
Pu--y ni--a wanna scratch a ni--a paint
Pu--y ni--a wanna see you fall
You know to bring them choppers when you see me call
I tried to let them pu--y ni--as eat
It's time to make you pu--y boys extinct
I took a quarter Ki to boat conan
All my central Florida ni--a straight bowty
Broke down and brick em back in bartow
Bell blade box Chevy on my car phone
J ville I went and bought a condo
Back to the crib where I get it by the car load

[Hook: Rick Ross]
I started with a box Chevy
Then I got the blue Lexus
My bi-ch stay down with me
So now she got the new Lexus

[Verse 2: Rick Ross]
I went and got my bi-ch her very own salon
Get her hair do everyday do the f--k she want
I started in a box Chevy
Now my watch a buck eighty
I heard the sane pu--y ni--as hatin’
The killers comin stay patient
I made a killing milkin okey chobey
I'm talkin millions with that okey dokey
Pop a molly now that bitch sweatin
Or is it just a ni--a necklace?
I tried to let you pu--y ni--as eat
I pray that all you pu--y boys decease

Oy. I love hip hop-- but those lyrics make me squirm. Makes me nostalgic for lyrics of the kind that Tribe Called Quest consistently offered.
