At present there are three places to go in Springfield after dark, and all three are pretty fun.

The Pearl (monster night is Thursday)
at 1st and Main

Shantytown Pub
on 6th Avenue

and the

Springfield Station.
On Main Street between 5th and 6th.

I haven't been to Shantytown or the old Main Street Deli location....can anyone tell me what they are like?

Shantytown is a nice little pup, with a backyard...it's friendly and comfortable!
The Main Street Bar & Grill is also a small place, with a bar, booths and great food!

You should check both out...it's worth it!

Shantytown Pub is on 6th street 1/2 block west of Main.  Ian and Marianne run it. They will be familiar to you if you frequented the London Bridge back in the day like I did.  Great atmosphere, good beer.

there is also 9th and main.  i know stephen has issues with the place, but they have good concerts.  bar service sucks though.  they are always understaffed.

My friend Ryan first took me to Shanty Town.  I liked it whenever I first walked in.  I take my friends there now.  Great beers on tap!

Is 9th & Main still open?  Someone had mentioned they had close once again.

My wife and I stopped in on Sat night. It actually is looking better than it has in a while. I actually have to say I feel kinda bad for them. They had a series of break ins (same guys, over and over and over again) in which they had a bigscreen TV and TONS of beer and booze stolen.

They finally caught the guys by getting a couple of JSO guys to spend the night in the theater.

Anyway, I was talking to River (the current manager) and he is there until July 1st, then he is back to the great white north. He says the new management is bringing some excitement back to the place and re-tuning the menu, so lets all cross our fingers for a winner. As much as I would like to have seen Boomtown move back, I would really just like for the place to succeed be it in whomever's hands.

Couldn't agree with you more, Dan! I'd just love to see more places open and succeed, around here.

Imo, the more sound businesses along Main Street, the better.  I could care less about who's operating them or who they sleep with afterhours.  Any other places setting up shop along Main or 8th?

There are somethings afoot, but I dont have details or locations yet. I will post when I have something.

I do know that Rita Regan got Hionides to meet with her, SPAR, and some reps from the Womans Club at the SPAR office last week. I got confused on the date, so I missed the meeting (I was SO mad at myself).

He is telling everyone NOW is the time to develop. With his inventory, he certainly could change the neighborhood over night if he builds and brings in good tenants. Right now his cadre of tenants include the quicke mart, the Meeks car lot, an Auto body, a pawnshop, and a bunch of empty lots, so in my mind the jury is out on this guy, even if he develops.

I like going to Shanty Town :)
