Riverside DeJay gets his Eyes Gouged Out

I havent posted this on my blog yet because the details are VERY sketchy. Here's the gist.

Sometime during 4th of July weekend (i am actually being told on the 5th), a guy called DJ Kalani (please correct me, i know this isnt right but hes a DJ that worked at Starlite and a few other venues around town) was found around 2:45am in the vicinity around King and Green Streets in the middle of the road with his eyes gouged out, (look away if you have a weak stomach) and his sockets still attached.

DJ whoever lived and is in the hospital recovering and will never regain his vision. Detectives visited a local bar on King Street where they requested security video but were unable to access it due to the amount of time it took for them to investigate the bar. (12 Days). The security video had since looped back and copied over the previous footage.

The "suspect" (and again, this is, SORT OF, hearsay) was apparently videotaped patronizing said bar and conversing with the victim, but again...said video was unavailable. This suspect was also just released from an extended stay at the Jacksonville Hilton (the jail) for trafficking in a controlled substance (again hearsay).

Anyway, both subjects were at "said bar" from 1:30am to 2:00am and then left because the venue closed.  45 minutes later at 2:45am, DJ whoever was found at the previously mentioned locale.

There's been VERY LITTLE, if any, mention of this on the news and everything is a little hush-hush with the investigators. Speculators have suggested that DJ whoever (and I am sorry to keep saying that but my sources didnt have many particulars) saw something he shouldnt have and snitched, hence the retaliation.

Any additional info is greatly appreciated either here or at JacksonvilleConfidential@gmail.com.

As with this post, if you prefer to be anonymous we will certainly respect your request.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

damn, I read that article in the times union, but it kept say his eyes were "bulging".  Didn't make any sense when I read it, thanks for clarifying that

And, I clicked on this because I thought it was an item about a DJ with the greatest DJ name ever.

If I remember correctly it was a short two paragraphs on the times union website under the law and disorder column.  But it just said the mans eyes were Bulging, and repeated the term several time.  Living out of state at the moment, so I don't know if it was in the print version.

There was a documentary on the crips and bloods in LA on the Nat Geo channel the other day and it showcased how both gangs grew in the city and how the city was overtaken by them. Listening to the cops talk about how things got out of hand sounds eerily similar to what Jax is gowing through now.

Locking them up in sweeps worked for a little while until there was public outcry over police brutality and racism. Suspending kids from area schools didn't work because it just kept the gangs moving to other schools where they would recruit more members. It actually made things worse.

Of course everything peaked with the LA riots. Anyway, it was a very interesting documentary and like I said it was striking to see the similar trends in both LA and here.

In 2007 in LA county there were 277 homicides reported. The population? 1.8 million.

In 2007 in Duval County there were 125 homicides reported. Population 900,000.

No, I know it's just the violent crime trends that are alarming.

I wonder what people were thinking when they had all these children they don't care to raise...

So, this was caused by a lack of government programs?  I would say it was caused by a lack of morals and probably a lack of enough law enforcement.

Lack of proper family structure, lack of morals, the tolerance of a sub-standard culture influencing youth...geez, the problem is so multi-faceted, it can be overwhelming.

I heard a report on this last night on the 11:00 news which I believe was 47 News.  It sounds to me like the poor fellow was slammed to the ground.  If his head impacted first with the total force that may have been enough deceleration to cause his eyes to leave the sockets.  I hope whoever did this is tracked down and put away.
