Either an alarmingly high number of NFL fans are stupid across the board, and they all find anything and everything to complain about, or the city of Jacksonville holds a monopoly on dumbassity.  Call it bias, but I tend to think its the latter, I mean I've seen some really, really stupid things get said, then said again by somebody else like 10 seconds later.  To wonder why Jags fan complain so much, will only frustrate you more and more, like it's done to me countless times.  I'm sick of reading about moving to LA/London, Tim Tebow, and ticket sales...

I read their stupid @$$ comments, shake my head in disgust, then find something on the Interwebs to cheer me up...like the Sweet Brown autotune remix.  That never gets old...

It's a good idea to avoid reading the Jaguars' Facebook page.  About 5% of the people who post on there are actual Jaguars fans.

At first I wasnt sure about the logo, something about the ear threw me off, but it is growing on me. @Kells904....."Aint nobody got time for that!" haha

Some? Probably most I am guessing. That is why I don't see it getting done this season.

Adam, yes, during the "reveal" Khan said that the shield is to honor the strong local military presence and support in the Jacksonville area.  It will primarily appear as the on-field logo.

About the complainers - a friend commented that we could win the next ten Superbowls, and Jags fans would still find something to complain about.

Here it is.  I don't see the city paying for this.


Lamping said that if they can finalize a deal with the city, which owns the stadium and would be responsible for paying for the scoreboards, in 60 to 90 days, the scoreboards could be installed by this fall. They would be about 52 feet high and 348 feet wide.

Me neither, unless they come up with some crazy financing scheme. I cant believe the Jags would believe that the City would pay for these scoreboards alone.

I think it's a great way for the city to curtail a "new stadium" discussion, which we absolutely don't want to get into.  Why wouldn't the City pay?  They're the LL, Jags are only a tenant.  The board would definitely help the city in it's pursuit of the BCS Championship, and other major events they're chasing.

The Jags are also proposing the board be paid for with proceeds made in the stadium; so in that respect the City is just re-investing in a money maker.

Stadium improvements get dobne using revenues from the bed tax.....which of course also pays for other city-owned entertainment facilities, like the Prime Osborn, TUPAC, arena, ballpark, etc.

Understood; I completely agree with the Jags that it's a very good investment for the City.  In the era of billion dollar stadiums, I'll take 50 million to keep the tenant happy.  Especially one that's doing so much for the community.

Understood; I completely agree with the Jags that it's a very good investment for the City.  In the era of billion dollar stadiums, I'll take 50 million to keep the tenant happy.  Especially one that's doing so much for the community.

Yes, because a city that can't mow its grass or keep its libraries open really needs to spend 50 mil on an unnecessary best-in-class scoreboard. If you think the scoreboard is the only thing standing between Jax hosting the BCS Championship or other big events, you are delusional. We could use a paltry 10 million just to bribe the BCS officials for the game (that's how everything in college football works anyway). Then we can have 5 in a row for the price of a silly, albeit impressive and awesome!, scoreboard.

I can get sarcastic if you want to, sport.  Or we can talk like adults.  The stadium's livelyhood relies on having tenants; which I'm sure you totally understand.  To attract and maintain tenants; you must offer what they're looking for.  Now if you'd like to take any/all profits that the stadium generates and use that money elsewhere; let's see how long you have tenants at your stadium.  Or, as outrageous as it sounds, re-invest the money earned into an improved stadium and fan experience and continue to attract.

The BCS Championship was just an example.  My point is that the better the venue, the better tenants/events we will attract.  Letting the stadium continue to become outdated doesn't help anything.
