7-11 has submitted a COA to the City Planning Department for changes to the landscaping and signage at the old Pizza Palace location.  There will be no changes to the exterior of the building and no gas pumps.

No pumps? I'm surprised, given the size and location of the property.

Well that's interesting. Definitely going to hurt the Trop., maybe not the Chevron so much. I wonder why no gas pumps? Couldn't get the environmental cleared to get the tanks installed?

Too bad, that Chevron gets crazy busy at peak hours. Could use another gas station...think the next closest one is on Stockton?

Gas, shmass. I just want Slurpee access close to my house!

I'm not very pleased about this.  I would rather see something more pedestrian friendly on that property.  It's a huge property with a tiny building right in the middle; there is room for something 3 times the size of what is already there that could be put up against the street.

Dog Walker

Before ANYTHING even a 7-11 goes in on that spot the City needs to do something about that intersection.  The design is left over from when Post and College Streets were one way and it is the most pedestrian unfriendly and dangerous intersection in all of Riverside.  If you want to go from the park to the new 7-11 you will take your life in your hands because there is NO pedestrian walkway across Post or Margaret.

I think you guys mean Shell, not Chevron. I agree they need to make those intersections a little more pedestrian friendly.

Do they not have ICEEs at the Shell?

You can have any flavor you want... so long as it's "red" or "blue".

Ah yes - I guess that's a common issue with ICEEs. Lack of variety. You do sometimes find places that have the occasional exciting flavor, but it's usually red, blue or cola, isn't it?

JaxJerry

I don't think red or blue are flavors.  They are colors!

funwithteeth

If you've had a red or blue Icee, you'll know they taste exactly like "red" or "blue," not anything recognizably fruity.

Adam W

Red isn't without its charms. And I guess blue is okay from time to time. But I do like the expanded flavor palette you tend to get with Slurpees, though sometimes they come up with some really nasty ones.

Plus, most 7-Elevens tend to have 4 barrels of Slurpee available.
