No way should Blaine start next week. Henne has the possibility of playing a lil better if he's giving practice reps with the first team

At this point, I don't care about any 'moral victories' and a QB throwing for a ton of yards in a losing effort. So far we seem to be consistent and playing teams on the road very tough, and getting blown out at home, so us playing well at Houston didn't surprise me. Like Comn said, Henne definitely should start next game. IMO it all blew up in our face ever since we had a fourteen point lead with the ball, and did the dreaded stupid-ass conservative 'run run pass', and gave the ball right back to Houston. What an exhausting game, talk about an emotional rollercoaster. Hopefully we can end the last six games with a spark, but in all honesty, I'm looking forward to 2013.

I'm good with the lost. Then season for us been over. I win would have only made us feel good for today, but wouldn't mean shit anyways. Its not like were in the playoff hunt. This was the most pass happy, entertaining game the Jags have played since the Coughlin years. I dont remember a game under del rio where we were hitting all cylinders on offense like that. However, today showed we do have talent and can play competent football when were are not beating ourselves with penalties. Our secondary was getting burned today I will admit that, but the defense was coming up with big plays in key moments. The offense just could not finish it off, and that has more to with Henne's lack of reps with the first team offense. In overtime, you can tell he hadn't practice two minute drills with them, because they looked out of sync. Given we played this well against the best team in the AFC with a #2 defense, they did damn good and I'm not gonna whine about it. The Texans are better than us period. They know how to win games. Were still getting there. Our next offseason will be a defining one for us. I don't think were as far off from a winning team as we think. Even the guys covering the game said that the Jaguars have talent and can be good, if we stop beating ourselves. And that's been the story of this season. Believe or not, even with another lost and a 9-1 record, we earned alot of respect today. Now we just have to sort out the QB issue. But, if Henne's the better QB, oh well make Gabbert the back up and move on.

I missed the game today.  Sounds from your posts like Henne got hot?

He had a hell of a game today. The whole team did. The offense fell off in overtime, but hey, this 1-9 team brought Houston to overtime.

Ahh yea henne was hot. The entire team was. They kinda fell off in OT, but being he hadnt had any reps wih the first team (particulary doing two minute drills), they were a little out of sync.

Exactly what Ive been saying man. When POZ was playing with a completely bloody face, it showed me the determination they have. They could have easily gave up by now, but they havent. I said I wasnt going to anymore home games, but after today's performance, I feel they have earned my (our) continued support.

I took a trip to the Houston Chronicle and the Texans fans are pissed beyond belief. However, someone commented and gave his in sight on the game. He made some good points.

oooh I see some "texans are overrated" comments....

By my count we had 4 solid things working against us without counting turnovers... these are big things...

1. Like other people said this Jags team is dangerous, they have nothing to lose and they have more talent than what their record really indicates....

2. Ironically, knocking out Gabbert didn't work to our advantage. We can't control that but its true. Henne is much better.

3. Our defense is tired. They are worn out. That's pretty evident to me today.

4. If we had lost this game we would be talking about the two missed field goals. Any of those could have been the difference in this game.

With all of that against us and the Jags leaving it all out there; we took their best with us not running optimum and we still won.

There are a lot of teams that if they were in our position would have given up.

There are no ugly wins people. Just wins and losses. The fact that we improvised adapted and overcame the adversities presented to us in this game shows character in this team that we haven't seen yet. Aside from GB, its pretty much been business as usual...

So for all you knuckleheads saying that the texans are overrated suck it. Were 9 and 1 and that's all that matters. It's not about by how much we beat this team or that team by. This ain't the BCS....and were trying to get homefield for the playoffs.

That's what really matters...

As for us facing Detroit.....it doesn't get any easier but I know this, we are the best team in Texas and you want overatted just head up I-45 for a few hours you'll run into overrated up there....

Jaguars play franchise-record third overtime game
The Jaguars set a franchise record on Sunday by playing in their third overtime game of the season. All three games were on the road (at Minnesota, at Oakland) and resulted in losses.  The Texans outscored the Jaguars 23-10 in the fourth quarter/overtime to pull out the win.

The two teams combined for 80 points (Jaguars 37, Texans 43), 1,098 yards (Jaguars 458, Texans 640) and 56 first downs (Jaguars 17, Texans 39), the most in Jaguars history.  The previous marks were 77 points (11/12/95 vs. Seattle), 970 yards (11/4/07 at New Orleans) and 52 first downs (11/24/96 at Baltimore, OT).

Monster day for Blackmon
2012 first-round pick Justin Blackmon registered a career-high 236 yards on seven receptions including an 81-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.  The 236 yards were the second-most in franchise history, trailing only 291 yards by Jimmy Smith on Sept. 10, 2000 at Baltimore. Blackmon’s 81-yard touchdown catch was the second-longest in team history (84 yards, Troy Edwards, 9/28/03 at Houston).

Additional notes on Blackmon:
·        Set franchise record with a 33.7-yard average per reception, surpassing previous high of 29.5 yards by Ernest Wilford (4 receptions, 118 yards, 12/24/05 at Houston).  Had catches of 81 (TD), 63 and 39 yards and two receptions of 15 yards.
·        Joined Pete Mitchell (1995) and Matt Jones (2005) as the only rookies in franchise history with an 100-yard receiving game.
·        Entered the game with 26 receptions for 250 yards through nine games.  His 486 yards through 10 games are the second-most by a rookie in team history, trailing only Pete Mitchell (527 yards, 1995).
·        Leads the team with 33 receptions after 10 games, 15 catches shy of the club’s rookie record for a season (48, Mike Thomas, 2009).
·        Combined with Houston’s Andre Johnson (273 yards on 14 receptions) to become only players in NFL history to eclipse 200-plus receiving yards in the same game.

Henne produces 354 passing yards and five touchdowns in reserve role
Fifth-year pro Chad Henne took over under center on the Jaguars second offensive possession after Blaine Gabbert left the game with an elbow injury.  Henne finished 16 of 33 passing for 354 yards with four touchdowns for a 126.8 rating.

Henne’s 354 yards marked his eighth career 300-passing game and first as a Jaguar.  His four touchdown passes were a career-high and tied for the most in Jaguars history.  He joined Mark Brunell (11/29/98 at Cincinnati), Quinn Gray (12/30/07 at Houston) and David Garrard (10/31/10 at Dallas) as the only Jaguars quarterbacks to accomplish the feat.
Additional notes on Henne:
·        Hooked up with Justin Blackmon for a career-long 81-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, the second-longest touchdown pass in franchise history (Byron Leftwich to Troy Edwards, 9/28/03 at Houston).
·        Had touchdown passes on back-to-back completions, hitting Marcedes Lewis for 13 yards late in the first quarter and Cecil Shorts for 67 yards in the second quarter.
·        Had four completions of 30-plus yards including 81 yards (TD, Justin Blackmon), 67 yards (TD, Cecil Shorts), 63 yards (Blackmon) and 39 yards (Blackmon).  His longest career pass entering the game was 67 yards on Oct. 25, 2009 vs. New Orleans.
·        His 126.8 passer rating was second-highest of his career (130.4, 10/12/09 at New York Jets).

Parmele carries the load in backfield
Third-year pro Jalen Parmele entered Sunday’s game having never rushed more than five times in 33 career games.  Parmele, who earned his first career start, produced a career-high 80 yards on 24 carries including a 28-yard run in overtime to set up a game-tying field goal.  He was signed by the Jaguars as a free agent on May 1, 2012 after three seasons (2008-10) with Baltimore.

Hitting the ‘big play’
The Jaguars recorded a season-high four plays of 30-plus yards including three for 60-plus yards and two touchdowns.  Chad Henne hooked up with Justin Blackmon for an 81-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and Cecil Shorts took a Henne pass 67 yards for a score in the second quarter.  Blackmon also had a 63-yard catch in the first quarter.

The four plays of 30-plus yards were the most since Dec. 17, 2006 at Tennessee (4 plays).  The Jaguars have 13 plays of 30-plus yards through 10 games, surpassing their total of 10 in 2011 and one shy of their total in 2010 (14).  In addition, the Jaguars’ 12 completions of 30-plus yards in 2012 are the most since 2009 (13).

50-plus plays
The Jaguars had three plays of 50-plus yards on Sunday, increasing their season total to six (5 passing, 1 rushing) through 10 games.  The six plays are the most since the 2009 season (6).  Cecil Shorts leads the team with three receptions of 50-plus yards while Justin Blackmon has two, both coming against the Texans on Sunday.

Another productive day for Shorts
Second-year wide receiver Cecil Shorts continues to produce on a consistent basis for the Jaguars, finishing with three receptions for 81 yards (27.0 avg.) including a 67-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter.  Shorts leads the Jaguars with 642 receiving yards and five touchdowns through 10 games.  He also leads the team with 11 receptions of 20-plus yards, four of 50-plus yards and has a reception of at least 25 yards in eight of 10 games.

Four of Shorts’ five touchdown receptions are from 20-plus yards, the most by a Jaguar since Reggie Williams had five in 2007.  His five touchdowns are the most by a Jaguars receiver since 2010 (7, Mike Sims-Walker).

Two-touchdown day for Lewis
Tight end Marcedes Lewis had a leaping 13-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7, and he followed with one-yard score in the third quarter.  Lewis, who has 21 career touchdown receptions, moved into sixth place in franchise history for career touchdowns.  He had a season-long 26-yard catch from Chad Henne in the second quarter, moving him into third place in team history with 23 career receptions of 25-plus yards.

Mosley registers first two sacks of the season
Eighth-year pro C.J. Mosley registered the club’s only two sacks on Sunday, his first two of the season.  Mosley recorded a sack/forced fumble in the first quarter against Matt Schaub who recovered the ball.  He sacked Schaub again in the third quarter.  Mosley has 11 career sacks and leads the Jaguars in 2012 with a career-high three fumble recoveries.

Posluszny records interception and forced fumble
Veteran linebacker Paul Posluszny was responsible for two takeaways on Sunday and both led to touchdowns.  Posluszny forced a fumble of Arian Foster in the third quarter that was recovered by John Chick and led to a Marcedes Lewis touchdown.  It marked Posluszny’s sixth career forced fumble and second with the Jaguars.  He recorded his second interception of the season and eighth of his career early in the fourth quarter.  Two plays later, Chad Henne hooked up with Justin Blackmon for an 81-yard score.

Cox records team-high third interception
2009 third-round pick Derek Cox added to his interception total on Sunday, picking off Matt Schaub in overtime.  Cox leads the team with three interceptions and increased his career total to 11.  He has at least three interceptions in three of four seasons.

Perfect 3 of 3 day for Scobee
Josh Scobee connected on all three of his field goal attempts, hitting from 43, 40 and 33 yards.  Scobee has been successful on 17 of his first 18 field goal attempts through 10 games.  It marked his 16th career game with at least two 40-plus yard field goals including three games in 2012.

Season-highs for Jaguars offense
The Jaguars produced a season-high 458 total yards, 37 points and four touchdowns. The 458 total yards were the most since Nov. 14, 2010 against Houston (491 yards). The 37 points marked the most points by the Jaguars since their 41-14 win over Tampa Bay on Dec. 11, 2011. The Jaguars have eclipsed 20 points in four games with all four coming on the road.  The club had only 20 or more points in two games in 2011.

The Jaguars continued to be perfect in the red zone as they came away with points on all three red zone trips (2 touchdowns, 1 field goal).  In 10 games, the Jaguars have made 20 trips to the red zone and all 20 have resulted in a score (10 touchdowns, 10 field goals).

Jaguars without four starters
The Jaguars were without four starters today with two on offense and two on defense.  Running back Maurice Jones-Drew, safety Dwight Lowery and cornerback Rashean Mathis have missed each of the last four games.  Fullback Greg Jones has missed three straight games.

Meester moves up in record books with 68th consecutive start
Center Brad Meester started his 68th consecutive game and 187th of his career.  The 68 straight starts tied for the third-most in team history with Marcus Stroud and Vince Manuwai.  Meester owns the franchise record with 92 consecutive starts from Sept. 3, 2000 through Dec. 4, 2005.

Henne threw for over 300 yards and Schaub for over 500 yards. Nice to see the Jags air it out.

here's the question I have from yesterday...I have no problem not upnting on 4th down in OT....but why not let Scobee take a shot...sure it would have been from 63 yards (tying an NFL record), but we know he can hit from 59?

KenFSU

Fantastic game by the Jags yesterday.

Win or lose, it's tough to not be able to get behind an effort like that.

For the first time since the Minnesota game, they actually looked like they were having fun out there too.
