I feel sorry for any of you who have season tickets to that crap.

I experienced 3 positives at the game, none of which had to do with football.

(1). The wife and I took her father, a Michigander and huge Lions fan, to this game, and we had a great time. (2). Being a perpetually disappointed Lions supporter, my father in law was impressed that our fans made such a strong showing despite our record. Perhaps if the team itself had showed up, they'd have stayed for the whole game.

(3). The folks sitting next to us were a young couple from the Isle of Man. For the geographically disinclined, this is an island between Britain and Ireland that's a dependency of the UK. They were on vacation to Florida and came up to Jacksonville specifically to see the game. They said they're trying new sports as they're disappointed with the current state of European soccer, and due to the London series they've made us their adopted American football team. They said they had a great time and will be out in their new Jags gear at Wembley next year. It was pretty cool.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I have season tickets and I enjoy going to the games win or lose. Being in the stadium, meeting new people, talking to visiting fans is always nice.

The fan support is amazing. I think weve finalyl learned how to really be fans. You have to be there through the good and the bad. MY contractor is from Bouston and talked about how he even went to partiot games and say through the snow, just to see them lose. He was telling me how utterly terrible they were and how he still cant believe what happened when Kraft took over.

anyways, Im a new fan ( two years old, LOL) but I enjoy going to the games. In my section, everybodys just cracking jokes about the team versus whinning about it. LOL The losing is draining me, but Im there. Will be there Thursday also. Anyone that says the Jagaur fans are not faithful can put a sock in it. This is just football. The best teams in the league has been just as bad as us, at one point in their history. we'll bounce back. Changes are in order.

I'm sick of people telling me they feel sorry for me that I root for and buy tickets to a losing team, or that only winning is worth paying for, or behaving as though my worth ought to be determined by what an NFL team does on the field.  I only assume such people find it exciting to watch Florida pound Charleston Southern.  I'm tired of people acting like it should be an embarrassment to root for the Jaguars, as opposed to, e.g., buying a Brady jersey after 2003 and pretending to be a lifelong Patriots fan.

There is an NFL team in Jacksonville, Florida, my favorite city in all the world. But not only is there an NFL team there, it's one that is exceptionally easy to root for, win or lose. A front office astonishingly open and generous to its fans, and a roster loaded with good men doing fine things in their community and generous of its collective time with fans as well. The on-field record is poor right now, but there is talent to build on, and things will get better. But the joy of rooting for the Jaguars is in rooting for an organization full of people who are easy to root for. Far too many of us walk with our heads hung over 1-7 because we suffer the slings and arrows of people who somehow convey superiority on themselves for rooting for teams with superior records. I am proud to root for this organization regardless of record. All of us should be. I am attached to the Jaguars by the accident of their being geographically located in a city I care about deeply, but am attached far more firmly and permanently to rooting for an organization of good, generous people.

I really don't know what to say to people who act as though I should be embarrassed to root for a team because its record is down and it doesn't play in a major market. If only they knew what a privilege it is! No team in professional sports affords more opportunities to interact with its players and front office. Beautiful stadium. Awesome mascot. Great guys to root for. The freedom of never being called a bandwagon jumper since the major sports media ignores or dismisses us even in the good years. The intense bonding with fellow fans that comes from that dismissiveness and the gusher of lies about our fan support. When the Jaguars win big, it will be more thrilling for us than a similarly successful season would be for any other fan base.
I'm proud of Jacksonville for continuing to turn out in big numbers despite a wretched season, and I'm very excited to be heading down there on Wednesday for the Colts game.

In 1992, the Patriots had a grand total of 17,000 season ticket holders.

Remember this whenever some bandwagon Patriot fan starts acting like his franchise invented football and fandom.

There is a joke that Patriots fans think football was invented in 2001.

10 years ago the Saints were probably the least popular team in the NFL.
15 years ago the Colts were probably the least popular team in the NFL.
20 years ago the Patriots were probably the least popular team in the NFL.

All drafted/signed the right QB, hired the right coach and won the Super Bowl. It's not like we're the first franchise to hit rock bottom. It just really, really, really sucks to be at that point as a fan. We are there right now.

Don't. We don't want or need your pity.

Listen, if you don't like the Jags, that's ok. Buy and ticket and root for the other team. It's still NFL football and it's still good for the city.

Or you can watch it on tv and complain; just be sure to thank your local season ticket holder.
