What a crap piece of journalism, WOW. There were "online comments" that were racist? Well then I'm sure they were all verified citizens of Jacksonville, over the age of 13. Also, where aren't there ridiculous online comments? Are there no "anti gay" comments made 'online' in San Francisco? Does anyone think the reception would have been any different from the keyboard hate monkeys anywhere else just looking to get people wound up? What a total load of BS.

Regarding the Jags in general. I want to be a Jags fan. I was a teenager when they came here and my parents have had season tickets from the start. My biggest issue isn't the sorry record year after year, and it certainly isn't the religious denomination of whoever owns them. My problem is that every year when the cycle comes around to how the Jags may be leaving we have to hear over and over about how this city wouldn't be anything without the Jags. I always liken it to a sort of "beaten wife syndrome" you're told all the time that you're nothing, couldn't do anything on your own .. etc etc ...  so you keep going back. Well that's what keeps happening. Jacksonville is so afraid that if they lose the Jags that we'll never be anything. Like it's the only thing we have going for us. And consequently like they have really even done anything for us thus far. We're just now realizing that all of the time and effort put into hosting the super bowl, which BTW as supposed to put us in the big leagues ... etc didn't amount to a pile of crap when it came to lasting effects on the city.

I'm sorry for the rant. Better to get it out now than when the end of the season comes and all we're hearing is how we're nothing without them.

My guess is Blackmon has never really had to "try" in football at any point in his life. He was always the best out there even as half-speed. But the NFL is a different animal and he looks lazy out there. Hopefully a light switch comes on for him.

Sorry, but have you ever heard of an animal called a "Sooner?"  It's a name that the online dictionary misdefined as "A native of Oklahoma." Actually the "Sooner's" were a criminal bunch of claim jumpers in the famous Oklahoma land runs. Today they practice that ancient art on the gridiron. For several years Blackmon was the only thing standing between them and their dreams of glory. Hey, but what can I say, you probably had no idea that there was a genuine 'Cowboy' Okie on MJ.

Once Blackmon is comfortable with the drill? Whole new ballgame.  ;D

And I-10, I know you don't intend it, but when you keep reacting like this you come across as defensive and whiny and you end up drawing even more attention to the thing you're complaining about.

When so much effort is used to rip a city to shreds like on 60 minutes, the same effort is needed to defend it, so I will not take a passive attitude on serious issues like that, and yes portraying an entire city as racist is a serious issue. That's the way I'm wired, what can I say, call me whiny or whatever.

Passion often comes across as aggresstion. You should try being assertive. Thats something Im actually working on. If I go HAMM about everything, nobody's gonna want to talk me.  ;D

Gabbert was pretty good yesterday. I don't know if they had a total, but there were at least 9 or 10 drops. Not to mention Blackmon stepping out on that sideline catch. He has to know where his feet are on that play. Blackmon continues to be a huge disappointment to me. He looks lazy as hell on most plays. I noticed it a few weeks ago during the Chicago game. He is jogging on routes where he isn't the primary target. And it was obvious on a few plays yesterday that he ran the wrong route. I was glad to see Dierdorf and Gumbel point that out during the broadcast.

I think it was 8 or 9 per Sexton and Lageman, but 10 if you could the failure to keep the feet in.

If Robinson is back next week, I wonder if he and Shorts start over Blackmon.  I want Blackmon to have the opportunity to play and learn and give him the benefit of the doubt that this is confusion and not laziness holding him back, but it's a major detriment to an offense when you have a receiver - even a talented one - who is frequently running wrong routes.  Look at what Dallas has experienced with Dez Bryant, or of course our Andre Rison saga in '96.

Shockingly, I have this same theory. We depended on the Jags to solve all our problems. we expected that once we got an NFL team everything would fall into place. But its gotten to the point the Jags can not mask the issues this city face. But dont get it twisted, The Jags are important to this city, just as any other NFL city. Every city that has lost a team felt like they had their hearts ripped out and jumped on (ask baltimore).

I'm not suggesting that losing the team wouldn't be horrible for the city's already problematic inferiority complex . Especially for those who can't seem to find any value in the city without it. That being said it'd rather have that than year over year of how we're not worthy to have one for one side, and how we would be nothing without on from the other.  It's a game, entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not going to "make" a city and it's not going to "break" one if they leave.

I know that yall are sick and tired of me, but I got one more thing about the 60 minutes Khan newspiece; Notice that they happened to show all white people greeting Khan like Jax is a city with an 100 percent Caucasian population, which of course they all are in the process of 'learning to be tolerant'. Coincidence, I think not. Back to talking about the 'action' on the field, LOL.

Unfortunately, Rison was what came to mind while watching Blackmon yesterday. I remember Brunell finally got tired of Rison running bad routes that he pulled him to the side in Pittsburgh one game and let him have it. The team cut Rison the next day,

This is how my weekend is shaping up.  I'm flying up to the game, going to sit in sub freezing temps to watch what might be the worst Jags team in their history, with no MJD, probably no QB or at least a broken one, AND I'm going against Aaron Rodgers in 2/3 fantasy leagues.

I'd cry, but I think the tears will freeze to my face.

How was your trip?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I would love and think highly Jacksonville just the same without the Jaguars as I did pre-Jaguars, but I do think it would be devastating to Jacksonville's national public image to lose the team.  Jacksonville did not have much of a national identity before the Jaguars came, and losing the team would lead it to be forever branded as "the city that couldn't handle big-time sports."  It hurt the citizens of Baltimore, deeply, to lose the Colts, but it surely didn't define Baltimore's national image the way it would Jacksonville's.

^^^I sorry I just don't like the way Jax were portrayed on the 60 Minutes newspiece. I'm not distraught because of that story by no means, but that doesn't mean that I have to like seeing my city being portrayed like that. I never understood why alot of people on MJ are basically "anti-showing pride in Jax" or atleast it seems so. On the CBS comment section, many people have the same take as mine.

www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50133869n

would you please stop making these inane insinuations?

MJ is not anti town center, nor are there people who are anti showing pride in Jax.

In fact MJ probably has more  pride in Jacksonville than any other publication in the region, so please stop projecting.

Inability to detach a constructive critique from a negative diatribe seems to be the problem. As for an acute dislike of Jacksonville, hell, not even my own REAL railroad system could keep me away from home.

Heh, the worst of all is that we nearly beat their "2nd team" as most of their starters were out of the game.....

Sure was looking positive there for a while though, and a win is a win.

Blaine has seemed to progress each of the past few weeks.  And yesterday showed a great deal of toughness.

If it wasn't for 7-9 drops, the game could have turned out as a W for the Jags.

I know GB had plenty of injuries as we seem to always be battling the same thing, but the difference is they found a way to win.

Lots to work on still, but yesterday's performance was encouraging.
