It's the society we live in today. "I want instant gratification. And if I don't get what I want, I'll take me toys and leave". Your handy mans example with the Patriots is dead on. The problem with many Jags "fans" is they got spoiled with the early (way out of the ordinary) success that the expansion Jaguars had. All teams have there ups as well as downs. But when it's your team, that is a tough pill to swallow. There is still a lot of repairs to make from the Shack Harris era (error). And because Gene Smith hasn't snapped his fingers and brought us a Super Bowl contender, he gets the blame. Sure, some of it's warranted. But these guys are professional athletes. They surely have some responsibility in the teams shortcomings, or do they get a free pass?

Never said they get a free, just want people to be realistic.

Didn't mean to imply that you did DD. I think that the Gene "haters" (you know who you are) want to make it 100% his responsibility for the teams shortcomings. IMO the players have to share in that.

If you look at though, is there anybody in Gene drafting you can say is a COMPLETE bust? Weve seen some huge ones under Shack Harris, but honestly I dont see any huge mistakes with Gene. He has gotten some really good players and a few medicore players. The thing that has plauged his draft class the most is that they are injury prone. I do however, blame him for players like Guy Whimper. He should NOT be on the roster after last night. And the premature release of Drew Coleman. But no GM is perfect. The thing that plauges this team the most is that it is young in NFL years. I think we cant count one hand how many veterans are on this team. What I see is a bunch of young players who are striving to be good and they are figuring things out. Weve got a new GM today, I can almost guarentee he would NOT gut this roster. He may give guys like Guy whimper the axe, but I can gaurentee he would not even touch half the players that we complaint about. As fans we see one thing, but for the people inside the NFL , see's another. And they know what they are doing. I used the Texans as an example earlier. What if the owner had listen to the fan base and fired the GM and headcoach in 2010? The would no be the dominate they are now. Just as we say "fire Gene smith", they screamed for their GM to be fired for years. For nine years they had a losing record, then everything came together. As fans we think we know so much, and at the end of the day we dont know shit LOL Im pretty sure Texans fan have shut up now. Just for fun, I'll tell you who I would cut if I was the Jags GM:

1.) Guy Whimper
2.) Kyle Bosworth
3.) Russell Allen would be special team ONLY
4.) Mike Thomas- He is a lazy bum and has a horrible attitude

And to be honest thats it. Its too early to throw these guys under the bus, especially on offense. The QB and WR position are the hardest to evaluate for talent, any GM will tell you that. QB's and Wr's also have steep learning curves. You have some that like Dalton, Greene and others that are NFL ready, but most of them have a learning curve, which sometimes takes years. Let's look back at Keenan McCardell. His career was CRAP until he came here. He had already been in the leuage for about 6 six years when he came to the Jags. Alex smith is a good example at QB. 49er's fans despised him, but 6 years or so later, he has turned out to be a franchise QB. Am I saying we should give someone 6 years to develop? No. But I think football fans just want everything microwaved.

P.S. Khan will not be swayed by fans. Had WW been the same way, he would have followed his mind and kept Coughlin and hired a GM. Instead he listened to US.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The Jacksonville Jaguars will remove some of their tarps on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, opening up an certain amount of seats for purchase.
While still the butt end of ignorant blackout and ticket sales jokes, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Thursday that they will be lifting some of the tarps in the upper deck as the team gets set to host the Chicago Bears on Sunday in EverBank Field.
"We're pleased with demand for tickets for this game and we're thrilled to be able to make additional tickets available to our fans," Jaguars President Mark Lamping said in a statement from the team.
A few years ago, former Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver installed some tarps on the stadium to cut the seating down and bring the stadium to a more appropriate size for the Jacksonville market, covering up a little over 9,000 seats, mostly in the upper deck of the stadium.
New Jaguars owner Shad Khan had mentioned that he would like to see the tarps come off permanently at some point, as they are a constant reminder of the team's inability to sell tickets.
For the 2012 season, the NFL has allowed team's to cut down their blackout number for games to 85 percent of the general bowl if they wish, with both the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers participating in the program, while the Jaguars declined. The Jaguars have the option of lifting some or all of the tarps to sell tickets if they so choose, and have chosen to do so against the Bears.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Regardless of who is buying the tickets, that's great news!  I heard that they're starting with Section 403 - probably a corner with no paid advertising if I had to guess....I've said it before - I hope they have a bonfire & burn the tarps on the fifty one day...

Question.. I left the game and the score was 20-3. Stop to my moms house, stayed there five minutes and left, then I checked the score and it was 41-3. WTF happen? I dont even wanna look to see.

In other great news, I just watched the Spacex's successful launch through the clouds here in Jacksonville. Here are the screencaps from their video footages:

I know you guys are tired of hearing this but uhhh... Start the "Fire Gene Smith" chants up. Somebody has to get the axe for this. It's not enjoyable going to the games and you can't even trash talk other fans when you're getting blown out EVERY home game.

Fire them all and start over.

Can't say I'm surprised. Similar to previous two years they do not make any big moves in the off season yet still expect a different result. There are no names here except MJD. No superstars, just some decent players. You gotta make some moves and spend the coin but they need the right leadership to make those moves. Bill Polian still available?

I don't think Polian is the answer, but yes change is in order.

I wish I could tell if Gabbert is just a miss or has the ineptitude of the OL severely stunted his growth.   Several throws were off (TD overthrow to Lewis) and I can't figure if he just can't make the throws consistently or if he's rushing it expecting to be hit.

Having returned from the Jags/Bears game, I can easily say the Bears fans were completely flustered on how it was only 3-3 after so long. The Jags defense did much better than people realize. Matt Forte didn't even reach 100 yards until late in the 4th quarter when the game was already sealed.

So while the O looked bad and the Bears D had MJD tied up. It really didn't break open until the interception of Gabbert in the 3rd Q.

The Jaguars, who head into their off week at 1-4, were stunned and coach Mike Mularkey indicated personnel changes will be discussed.

"I don't know how all that happened," Mularkey said. "I told the team I wish I knew what I could say to them afterward coming in from a 3-3 tie at the half, playing pretty good football, to let it escalate out of control."

Bears Coach Lovie Smith put it this way:

Smith felt just as grateful for the home-crowd feel generated by thousands of Bears fans at EverBank Field who grew louder with every big play in the second half. At times, you could hear chants of "Let's go Bears," in the Jaguars' stadium.

"I'm still hearing it," Smith said. "They had a big say in us playing through some tough times."

There is only so much you can do in ONE off season. KHan and the coaching staff was handed a mess to begin with. I never kidded myself to thing this would be fixed in one off season.  One big name player would not have saved this team. And to be honest, their were no "big moves" to make in the offseason. Free agency was dry as a bone this year, and theres only so much you can do in the draft. Some type of change is in order but where? GM? That could be a start. But thats another rebuild and possiably a few mores years of losing. However, I do agree we have decent players. A new GM would breath some life into what we already have and that would be a good thing. Maybe a change at QB, but Henne is not the answer either. If he was Miami would not have gave him his walking papers after so many years. Its so much wrong with the team, its hard to point pin what the real problem is. At this point, its the entire team if you ask me. There are inconsistant bottom line. Theres no other way to put it.
