I'll happily take the win, but the real elephant in the room is the no-call on the blatant pass interference late in the game.

Can't wait for these two next home games.

I'm a sucker for the 4:00 start times too.

If the weather is half as nice as it is today, it's going to make for a couple of really great Sundays, regardless of outcome on the field.

+1.

The other elephant in the room: the lack of a solid BG or Blackmun or receiver corp for 59 minutes of the game.

Why keep bringing up the negative?

^^^+100. Notice how pessimists always dwell specifically on the negatives, without even getting the entire picture; Remarkably similar to any discussion about growth in Jax.

BridgeTroll

two thoughts... This is a "Fabreeze" win... you can spray it around the room and it will smell better... but... it is only covering up the smell...

Or...

The Jags should have beaten the Vikes... who beat the Niners... who beat the Pack... soooo

The Jags are as good as the Niners and Pack! 8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

A win is a win. Had they lost, we would be having the same conversation. So lets just enjoy the moment and the amazing play at the end.

INDIANAPOLIS â€" Jaguars offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski was the first to admit Sunday that he called a conservative game against the Indianapolis Colts.

While Maurice Jones-Drew ran the ball 28 times, Blaine Gabbert threw only 21 times and had just 75 passing yards until Cecil Shorts took a slant pass and went 80 yards for the winning touchdown in the final minute as the Jaguars posted a 22-17 victory.

But Bratkowski said the emphasis on the run wasn’t a sign of a lack of confidence in Gabbert’s arm.

“We were a little concerned about the protection,’” Bratkowski said. “We were having protection issues. We didn’t want to have a sack-fumble, those types of things. We played it a little conservative. It was nothing more than we wanted to make sure we didn’t get a turnover. We wanted to play good field position football.”

He added, “In hindsight, I’m sure I’ll look back and think we probably should have thrown it here and there. But at the end of the day, we came away with a no-turnover game. That was a very solid thing for us. It allowed us to stay in the game.’’

Of the perception he wasn’t showing confidence in Gabbert, Bratkowski said, “That’s not it. He was knocked to the ground a number of times. We were trying to prevent him getting back there and him not seeing somebody and getting blindsided and having the ball on the ground, so we thought we would play it conservative. Is it going to be that way every week? No. We’re not playing [Colts’ defensive end] Robert Mathis every week. That could be the difference.’’

Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey seemed to show a lack of confidence in Gabbert when the team ran on third-and-9 from the Jaguars’ 21 with less than two minutes left, then punted.

Mularkey said the idea was to force the Colts to take a timeout.

“That was important,” Mularkey said. “We burned the timeout.”

Gabbert showed no lack of confidence. When he came into the huddle with 56 seconds left and the ball on the Jaguars’ 20, he told the players they were going to go in and score.

Guard Uche Nwaneri said, “When you guys do, what do you call it, the recap, tell them that’s what he said in the huddle before he ran the play. ‘We’re going score right here.’

“[I was like] we’ve got to get the ball down there and bang, like, oh, the first play. All right. I’ll take that.”

Bratkowski said the pass to Shorts was similar to the 20-yard pass he caught on the first play of the last drive against Minnesota that ended with Shorts’ touchdown catch.

“From what we’d seen from their coverage, one side was going to be really good for the play, and he [Gabbert] found the proper side and made a great throw,” Bratkowski said.

Gabbert said of the touchdown play, “Cecil did a phenomenal job clearing the defender and broke away from the defender who was trailing him.”

But after the first drive of the game, when the Jaguars got a field goal, the passing game sputtered a lot.

Bratkowski said, “We got to get better. We’ve got to clean it up. We’re not sharp enough right now.’’

But the important thing is that the Jaguars got the victory.

“At the end of the day, whatever else happens, we won. The guys needed that,” Bratkowski said.

After being hazed with punt

After being hazed with punt return duties meant to belittle the teams best and leagues most underpaid player, MJD showed why he is the Jaguars best choice for touches. When the passing game has only 10 completions in 22 tries and 8 of those within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage, you know it isn't effective. 21 attempts and 9 completions for 75 yards won't spell WIN in the NFL. It took one last attempt and a secondary without a starting corner and nickle back.

After two games of trying to highlight a non existant passing attack, Bob Bratkowski finally used the biggest weopon in the offense, MJD. Without Jennings and Owens only two options remained at running back, Jalen Parmele and MJD. Maybe we can focus on the run first approach, because it yields more yards than short passes and is more secure with the football.

To say the passing game fluttered alot is an understatement. QB Blane Gabbert got the ball out quickly to prevent a brush with a defender. most of the time the ball never was catchable as the routes hadn't been even considered. It's clear that BG wasn't as concerned about making a play as he was surviving without a grass stain. BG has no pocket presense, doesn't extend plays and checks down faster than any QB in the NFL. His passing attempts are so poor even the defense can't grab a pick!

You won't be able to hide BG's lack of ability to operate a passing attack on a consistant basis. Even with the best OL you will have pressure sometimes, and the excuses for Blane won't fly. You have a win, but w/o a better QB you'll have a losing season unless you go run even more than you did today. The opposing defenses won't be respecting our passing game anytime soon. Go deep early to soften up the defenses. Run between tackles often because the blocking on the corners isn't were it should be. Just like last year, it will be up to your defense, and running will help your defense by keeping them off the field as much as possible.

This FNC newspiece had me SHM. Don't get me wrong, it's all good because of the win, some fans will be willing to come to game, but the Jags already announced that no blackouts are excepted this year. This 2010-esque 'hopefully more fans will come to the game' mentality should already be behind us, esp with this new regime. This is a classic case of a non-story.

Well you know I dont think it was too off. I believe will also bring MORE fans to the game. Our attedance was the same it has been since 2010. I would love for our attedance to reach atleast 65,000. So winning will bring in more fans. The more, the merrier in my book.!  ;D

I cannot stand Hacker on 1010XL. He is the typical everything orange & blue is excellent, but everything teal & black is dismal. He personifies that faction of Jax that has the ass backwards rural folk. This guy complains like we just lost the game, then he goes on and raves about Luck, the losing QB, with his whiny lil' pipsqueak voice. It got so bad, that I had to turn the radio off which is too bad, because Joe Cowart is actually pretty decent.

Luck evidently can't discern teal and black, since he threw to Jaguars on about five occasions.

Our defense tomented luck. We had his ass on the run, and picked him off once. Had Mathis interception held up, and we got the two other "almost inceptions.", I wonder what they would have said then. WHATEVER. lol

Also seems like a very nice fellow and thankful for the opportunity to be in the NFL.  Hard not to like him.

Just checked out NFL.com top passes of the week and guess who is not mention?? Of course Jaguars Blaine Gabbert. They even mention Ponder's 1 yard TD has a highlight. By I swear this is starting to getting funny. How do you make a 80 yard TD pass and get overlooked is beyond me.
