Was in Tampa watch the Rangers play the Rays today (My dad is from Dallas). We stopped for lunch at Chili's and got to talking to people at the bar. Of course the conversation quickly goes to football. When they found out I was from Jax one guy says " Oh' they suck." I tell them, "Hey at least we can watch our team on tv unlike here." Another guy says "Well yall are moving to LA soon." I laugh and tell them "You guys cant 50,000 in your stadium. We average over 10,000 more per game then you guys and your twice our size. We havent had a blackout in 3 years. If I were you I'd be getting ready to root for the LA Bucs." The guys looked at each other like their eyes were opened first the first time to the fact that they are in worse trouble than they thought. They werent too happy. I told them good luck today and left to watch the Rangers get crushed (thats another story, that involves getting free tickets from a fan while in line at the ticket booth, SCORE!!). Was just nice being able to one up other cities for a change. Our team is getting better despite the loss today. In turn we are filling the seats. Tampa is gonna have a descent team and can't get 50,000 people to show up.

Go Job!!!! That kind of crap amazes me. I was in orlando last weekend and our waiter told us he was a bucs fan.. I did not mention I was a Jags because I was with my mom, and had he said something slick I would have went in on him.

Bad form to argue with your server.  He is handling your food.   ;)  Good thing mom was there to keep you in check.

And there have been roster moves. I seen this one coming a mile away with our banged up Oline. Robiskie got cut, which I was waiting on that one. We kept six WR's, and after Shorts showed his ass Sunday , so they told Robiske bye bye and Cloherty got the boot again. We signed another tight end and an offensive lineman.

I just read one of Gene articles on the TU. Normally I dont, but this one actually spoke the truth without all the other crap mixed. It may be a blessing in disguise that our offense has gotten better, because with our defense backfield in a mess, and Smith, Sessions and Cox with one foot in the nursing home ( ;D ), We have to put up some points this year. i hope everything balances back out though. After all the heat Gene Smith has gotten, the team that he drafted is finally looking up in a big way, they are all just injury bitten and thats something no one could have predicted.  Depth is our biggest problem at this point also. (which can only be fixed over time) I think we also are paying for the premature release of Drew Coleman. He didnt play much last year, but he was servicable. Now were stuck with ross back there looking crazy ass hell. I will be the first to stay, that was a bad call by Gene and whoever on the team agreed with him. I wonder if he's still avaiable? (Im going to check)  Another good point that was made, The Jags offense racked 377 yards and that is the more than any game all last season. Plenty of reason to be excited right now. I hope we can make it through because we FINALLY have a solid team.

I noticed in Oehser's Tuesday notes that it said "The game will be broadcast on Channel 47..." with no reference to potential blackout.

I heard on the radio today that they were expecting a good crowd with limited seats available (NO BLACKOUT).  BTW, Chargers-Cowboys blacked out in San Diego......just sayin'.

Wow pretty bad considering its the Boys and the Chargers are supposedly one of the elite teams. Good news for the Jags though and our city!!

Good news regarding blackouts. We don't need that black cloud over this team all season. As good as the fuel gauge was for transparency, it also became a distraction.

Tacachale

The Chargers-Cowboys game that was blacked out was a preseason game and it was like three weeks ago.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Did he mean for the entire year or just this game? If its the whole year, then great job Jacksonville!

Tampa, I think even used the 85% rule from the NFL and still is having to black out games. I think their situation is far more dire than ours ever was. They even are offering free parking and half off conessions. How is our team worth the least in the NFL with this stuff going on? I don't get it. We have to be pulling in more per week than Tampa in attendance and food sales alone.

You're right that Tampa used the 85%.  Their total tickets distributed for the opener were a little over 51k.
