It was never that bad here. Even in 2009 I think we averaged 49,651 by game day. And that is actually not far off from what we need to lift blackouts. With the Bucs, they lowered the blackout threshold and have a smaller stadium, so Im sure they are pressing the panic button at this point. I havent seen a team with attendance this bad since the 80's. ALso seems as if they are taking a page from our book with the half packs and payment plans. The difference is, we solved our problem immediately. It seems they wait until the stadium is almost empty to do something.

Dang - was it ever this bad in JAX?  Does that mean that they only have ~35k accounted for?

QuoteThe Bucs confirmed they still need to sell 9,000 tickets to reach the 85 percent general seat threshold to lift the NFL's blackout of their regular season opener against Carolina Sept. 9.

The Bucs were among only a few teams that elected to take the league's offer of selling 85 percent of the general seats -- about 44,000 -- in order meet the requirements for a sellout at RJS under the NFL's modified guidelines.

The Bucs are offering free parking and half price on all concessions, excluding alcohol, for the season opener against the Panters. They have discounted tickets to include $15 and $30 options, initiated half-season ticket packages and 12-month payment plans.

anyone notice they spelled Panthers, Panters in the article?

Maybe they are playing some out-of-breath guys instead of Cam Newton's team.

I am SO excited this season. I'm going 'all in' with a mind set of high expectations for the Jags, 10-6 or better esp now that we know MJD is on board. Screw that safe 6-10 or 7-9 BS that the local media is trying to force down our throats, as if we are playing freaking nine pro bowl teams or something. I can't wait to see the national media haters eat crow. Go Jags!!!

I'm thinking more 9-7...if they really start rolling maybe more. And mjd has a huge chip on his shoulder right now and that's good for us. That means he gonna play really really hard. To be honest though, he came back very salty and combative. Its not on humble bone in his body. Fred taylor was better than he is and taylor never took us through anything like this. Heck fred taylor begged to stay on the team and. Was even willing to take a pay cut.. that's loyalty.

^^^If 9-7 will get us in the playoffs, I'll take it! I agree that MJD did come back PO'd. I'm not holding anything against him, I'm just glad that he's back, so I definitely will say "DREEEWWW" after a nice run by 32 and not "BOOOO" :)

Im pretty  much over him. I wont look at him the same anymore. I probably would be the one saying "booo"'.. LOL nah, Im not that bad. But I wont be saying anything when hes on the field. I guess I just seen the real side of him I guess. Most players are about money and loyalty. Thats just the way it is.

^^^I guess this is one of the few times that we have differing opinions concerning Mojo's holdout. It's funny that you mentioned Freddie T earlier; The way you feel about Mojo is the way I feel about Taylor; The guy who people in Jax worshipped, when things got a lil' tough for one year with the Jags attendance, said that maybe it will be good for the Weavers if the Jaguars moved to LA; I know people are gonna jump on me for going in the past, and he did alot of things recently with the Jags caravan but that's something I dunno if I ever can forgive him for saying; Who's to say that he wont say it again? I know that there might have been bad blood when he was released but he shouldn't have hung the city out to dry like that. I would rather for him to take a shot at the management than the city.

I dunno what I'm gonna do during Taylor's enshrinement in the ring on that day, but as of now, I think that would be a good time to get a snack in the concession stand. Everyone around these parts already forgave FT a long time ago, at the drop of a dime all because he's a rah rah Gator. Let me see what's more egregious, a commonplace holdout for money, with the player coming in on time for week one; Versus a player putting an entire city on blast when things got a lil' tough? I don't even have to answer that question.

Just my two.

good god at the semicolon usage.  Also, we had more that "one year" of tough time for attendance, and it was embarrassing for a good while.  As a FSU fan, I never thought Fred had anything to apologize for, and he remains my favorite Jaguar of all time.  Last, the UF faithful hardly embraced their former players, short of the Tebow cult.

I think thing about MJD is how he always "changes" what he says. First he states he was never open to trade. during his press conference, he says that when he realized he wasnt getting a new contract, OR being traded, he knew it was time to come in. So did he or didnt he request to be traded. Not only in this situation, but MJD does that alot. In my he's a boderline liar, but Im just not trying to take it there. Then, we help him get the rushing title, and he uses it against us? I cant trust someone like that. Thats a real hard cold slap in the face. At the end of the season he gave all the credit to the O-line, then turns around and holds out like he did it all on his own.

Ands lets not forget, MJD made a comment about attendance and fan support back in 2010 that did not sit well with alot of people. It is, what it is I guess.

Good God with the lack of capitalization. I have no problem with you calling me out on something, but it would help if you were squared away yourself.  :P
