It would be awesome if during the London games, they would open up Everbank and allow the local fans in to tailgate and watch the game inside of the stadium. Even better when you think about the fact that our jumbotrons will be updated next season. That way the stadium vendors aren't missing out on money because we are losing one home game. I think that would slightly appease some of the people that are complaining about us losing a game. But I agree, it's a good thing for the Jaguars as far as expanding the brand and a GREAT thing for the city of Jacksonville. Hopefully the city's leaders go above and beyond to take advantage of this. It almost seems as though Khan is hitting more homeruns for Jax than the Mayor is.. Upgrades to the stadium, donating money to the military vets, the internation Jags games and HOPEFULLY helping with getting the Laura Street Trio project off the ground.

Thats a good idea, kinda like what they did for the playoff games.
^That's an awesome idea.

Fantastic idea. My greatest memory of the Jags is watching Garrard run first the 1st down against Pittsburgh with a several thousand others at the stadium.

fsujax

maybe they will. I think it is something Khan would support.

All and all I really think that this is a good thing.  I'll even go that extra step and put it out there that I don't care about a refund for the London games - I pay $700/yr to see the Jags - it's not cheap, but it's not that outrageous either.

Using the idea above, I would prefer to watch the game at the stadium and have a bartab for the amount of my ticket.  :D

Anyhow, the other idea that I've been spreading around is wouldn't it be great to have 10 other Khans move into Jax.  Guys with the money and the desire to win.  Not just football games, but life.  If we could get that kind of new energy in the city, it would help move out some of the GOBN.  With the kind of exposure generated by competing on a more 'global' scene, we have a better possibility of attracting said people.

So, if they stick with the history of playing AFC vs NFC in London, we would lose the following home games:

2013: Seattle or San Fran (probably be Seattle, since SF went 3 years ago)
2014: Dallas or NYG (No idea who)
2015: Atl or Car (Prob Car)
2016: Minn or GB (My guess is GB)
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

I think the cost of season tickets would drop to reflect the one home game we'd lose at the same time making season tickets that much more affordable. I still think they should have the stadium open for the London games though. Season ticket holders would get  their normal seats and then maybe just charge a small fee for "viewing" and sell out the rest of the stadium sans-tarps. I would think that would get a large turn out. I wonder what time of day the games would be played/shown here in the States though.

Season ticket prices will drop 10% (to reflect the 1 out of 10 home games lost), says the TU.

That right there is the biggest hurdle against this idea. I even LOVE this idea, but the timing and different time zones affects greatly.  If the game plays at night over there in London, you can't see the screen very well during the day over here in Jacksonville.

It is 5 or 6 hours difference between Jacksonville and London depending on the US's daylight saving time.

If you want to watch at night here in Jacksonville, when the game takes place in London, the game would have to be started at 10pm GMT for the Jumbotron to be viewable in the dusk / night here in Jacksonville at 5pm EST which is barely pushing it...

I dont remember any problems with the other games played in London. I am sure glad I'll be there to watch them. Just hope I can get a ticket.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am very proud to share the news that your Jacksonville Jaguars will be announced today as the featured home team in London as part of the NFL International Series.

Beginning in 2013, the Jaguars will play one of our regular season home games in Wembley Stadium through 2016 as part of the National Football League’s effort to grow the NFL brand throughout the world. The Jaguars and the entire Jacksonville community will be a centerpiece in the NFL’s efforts over these four seasons, and that’s a very exciting and rewarding development for all of us. My ambition is to make the Jaguars one of the signature franchises in the NFL and to see Jacksonville realize its full potential as a destination for commerce, tourism and living. An annual home game in London over four years, supported by initiatives in Jacksonville and throughout the United Kingdom to further develop our following, will help us achieve these goals and much more.

I am honored to welcome NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to Jacksonville today to announce the news, and in the weeks to come the Jaguars will have more information for our fans, partners and friends in the community. I wanted you to hear the news from me directly, and I thank you for the consistent and impressive support you’ve given the Jaguars over the years. I know great things are ahead for the Jacksonville Jaguars!

Sincerely,

Shad Khan

The screens can be seen just fine during any part of the day.  Strike 1.

Being that the games will be played during the middle of the season, we be in standard time.  Swing & a miss.

The game is played at 9:00 (4:00 here), but again the screen works just fine during the daytime.  You're outta here!

If they also install new screens, the LED ligths would be so bright, it wouldnt be an issue. But, I dont care I will be in London or Germany or Ireland or Spain!

;D Sounds like Josh hasn't been to a 1 o'clock home game... or any home game for that matter.  :o

The 2012 game in London will be played October 28th at 5pm (London) and will be broadcast at 1pm EST

Not sure why they don't play in 'primetime' over there.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Wembley must have it's lights off at 11pm.  It is an agreement it has with the neighborhood like Wrigley Field does.

According to Vito, it looks like 60 Minutes is in town to do a piece on Shad Khan; will be grabbing some footage at the press conference today as well.

Another thing that I like about the logic & expanding the brand:  Previously, the London games got a mixed bag of teams each year (no repeats) - now they're getting a 4 straight years / helpings of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  I'd expect/hope that by year 3 we may have caught on a bit.  If Manchester City played 4 consecutive years in JAX, I trust that there would be some recognition here as well...

^^This....

And let's put on our teal colored glasses for a sec...  If the team is ascending as we hope, there very well may be playoff appearances in the very near future, so couple a winning team with 4 consecutive appearances....  You have the makings of something really nice.
