I really don't pay too much attention to the argument that "he ran for that many yards and we still sucked". MJD is a good weapon to have on a balanced offense. You can't tell me you have faith in Jennings having a 1000 yard season nor our passing game going from the worst to top 10 either. I'd rather have MJD than any of our other options on the current roster.

Gene just hasn't shown that he knows how to handle contract disputes. No reason Scobee's deal should be taking this long. He totally screwed up us keeping Podlesh. Had we kept him, we wouldn't have needed to draft a punter this year. So that 3rd round pick was wasted. So say we hold our ground with MJD and he goes out and has a big year again and now he's pissed that you didn't want to resign him and he leaves, then you're out looking for another good running back. And not just a GOOD running back. A Pro-Bowl caliber running back.

Actually Gene is not doing anything different than any other GM in the league. There are not many teams that will renegoiate anyones contract with two years left in it. If it was his last year in his contract, I could see him holding out, but with two years left thats just ridiculous. And as far as Scobee, were arent the first or last team to use a franchise tag on someone. They'll get the deal done just as they got Mercedes deal done last season.  MJD is weapon and can come through in critical situations, but this is no one man team. Thats my only point. If thats the case, we would not have a losing record the past four years. I just dont believe in kissing anyone's ass because they are a star. And not just him, but these other NFL players too.

lol yeah well I agree that stars shouldn't get special treatment. Women shouldn't get promotions just because they have a nice body either. But hey, that's the world we live in. It's not going to change. Fact is that without MJD we would have been even worse these past few years. We have struggled to find the right pieces of a winning puzzle. I just want us to keep those good puzzle pieces together and hopefully not continually replacing them and never getting beyond just being a marginally good team.

A wise man once said this about labor and contract disputes:

Don’t pick sides because when the dust clears, they’ll be standing in front of the TV cameras hugging each other and you’ll be left with the angst.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

yeah me too. But I think its selfish in my opinion. The type of person I am its like this. If I had new ownership and a new coaching staff, and my team just came off one of the worse season we ever had, I would not let my first impression be " I want more money, so Im not showing up". Honestly MJD is not as selfless as I thought. I would have came to camp, play lights out in 2012, THEN hold out next offseason. Thats the part thats bothering me. We have too much on the line right now and we trying to get our house in order. He is just another distraction now.

Thank You, Vic.

lol ok on to some good news. I just saw DVI post this on Twitter

Quote#Jaguaring This was a light-hearted intern project, not a DVI-funded initiative. Due to negative feedback, it has been removed from YouTube.

THANK GOD!

Indoor practice facility coming for Jaguars
Quote
Tania Ganguli's Blog

The Jaguars are in the planning stages of building an indoor practice facility. That could mean a practice bubble, or a more permanent metal facility, but whatever it is, the past few weeks have shown it necessary.

"It’s really kind of very much up in the air," said Bill Prescott, the Jaguars CFO and senior vice president of stadium operations. "We’re obviously exploring a practice bubble vs. a metal structure, evaluating where it could possibly go in the context of where we are now in terms of the existing practice fields, the south end zone or any other location we could come up with. It’s really in the evaluation stages right now to understand what we can do with it."
Prescott said conversations about an indoor practice facility began in 2005 but did not progress further than conversations. He said those conversations "bubbled up" again in the past few weeks.
During the Jaguars voluntary practices some practices were moved into the club level of the stadium, creating the amusing imagery of the Jaguars going through plays amid concession stands and loose chairs.
During last week's mandatory minicamp the Jaguars used Veteran's Memorial Arena for one practice when rain soaked their practice field.
The Jaguars do not want the facility to be too far from their stadium, thus aren't looking at off-site locations. They want the capability to move practice at a moments notice, for example if a thunderstorm rolls in unannounced and affects practice.
Next year is the earliest such a facility could be built and ready for use.

I hope they build a more permanent structure.

Yeah I agree. This should have been done years ago. The summer weather in Florida is very unstable and unpredictable.

Yes it is .. Drought conditions and rain deficits for YEARS, then a non-stop Monsoon comes along, and we can't cope with all of the water.  Not complaining.. just saying ... You're Right.. its unpredictable . :)

Well I never complained about the drought conditions. LOL I hate rain. But the non stop rain since memorail day weekend has been much needed. Atleast there are no wild fires!  ;D

Does anyone have paid access to the Business Journal? There is an article on there about the Jags and stadium upgrades but of course I can only see a piece of the article. If so, could someone post it?
