Argghh I called and the guy wouldnt crack. He's just telling me the same blah blah that organization has been saying. One good sign though. I asked if there was a seat avaiable on my row because I was thinking about buying another season ticket for a friend, and there are none. Which is a good sign, because there were several on my row last year that was empty. I sit in 216 and that the "home" side of the stadium is getting filled up and the avaiablity is very limited on that side. The closest he could find for me in my section was several rows back.

Just keep calling & ask about EVERY seat.  Then you can work the math backwards & provide an update to the entire city & the national media.

I kid.  Thanks for checking, seriously.

Jaguars hire three executives to focus on fans, sales

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made some moves geared toward enhancing marketing and ticket sales.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan has collaborated with team President Mark Lamping in the past few weeks to hire three top executives in hopes of increasing attendance at EverBank Field and enhance corporate partnerships during Jaguars games.

Hussain Naqi has been named senior vice president for fan experience, Scott Massey is the senior vice president of partnerships and Chad Johnson was pegged for vice president of sales.

“This really is a continuing effort to provide the resources where we’ve focused a lot of attention and priority in terms of what we want to accomplish this offseason,” Jaguars spokesman Dan Edwards said Tuesday.

While Naqi and Massey are working for the Jaguars, Johnson joins the operations as a contractor from Legends, a sports promotions operation owned by the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys, Edwards said.

While the team did sell out all of its home games in 2011, at least one of those sellouts happened only because of a large corporate buyout of empty seats at the last minute before the deadline for the NFL television blackout.

Naqi, who used to be with planning at MetLife Stadium, formerly known as the Meadowlands, in New Jersey, will oversee fan relations and in-game experience for ticket-buying supporters of the Jaguars on game day.

Johnson will oversee sales to fans. And Massey, who came to the Jaguars from the PGA Tour, will oversee large-scale partnerships with corporations that will include sky box ticket sales and other community partnerships.

The addition of Johnson will also free Macky Weaver, the Jaguars vice president of marketing and sales, to focus on ticket sales, Edwards said.

Former Jaguars offensive tackle Tony Boselli, the commissioner of Team Teal, a fan-based support organization for the Jaguars, said he likes the moves.

“I think any time there’s change, you start by evaluating the organization and you bring in people who can improve and enhance business operations and what’s going on,” Boselli said.

Kevin Morris, managing member of the Jacksonville Business Exchange, said the front office moves by the Jaguars appear to be substantive.

“I don’t think it’s for show,” Morris said. “I’ve seen a lot of good changes, and the Jaguars needed to make a change. They were a business that was in the process of dying, in my opinion. It looks like they’re reviving the business.”

Morris agreed with Boselli that wins are the ultimate determining factor for fan loyalty. But the shake-ups in the business operations by Khan offer the local community confidence in the team.

The city’s charge that the Jacksonville Jaguars    were defaulting on their stadium with the city “could not have been timed worse” for ticket sales and has left owner Shahid Khan “shocked and perplexed,” Khan wrote in a letter to Mayor Alvin Brown.
On Friday, the Florida Times-Union reported that the Cindy Laquidara, general counsel for the city of Jacksonville sent the Jaguars a letter charging it with defaulting on its contract after team president Mark Lamping notified the city by letter that it recommended using SMG to manage its facilities.
In the letter, Khan wrote that the city had violated the agreement "by issuing a request for proposals for a facility manager that initiated a process in clear violation of our lease."
Despite that violation, Khan wrote, the Jaguars worked with the city “in considerable good faith to find an agreeable process for selection of a facilities manager.”
He said the Jaguars’ process of recommending SMG was within the procedures outlined in the lease agreement.
“The Jaguars organization has followed exactly the process agreed to by the team and the City and as set forth in the RFP documents,” Khan wrote. “Immediately upon our advising the city of our recommended selection, your lawyer delivered to the Jaguars organization a default letter putting in motion a termination of our lease.” Read Khan's entire letter to Mayor Brown here.
Khan said the story in the Florida Times-Union "could not have come at a worse time" for ticket sales.
“The action of sending the default letter is unprecedented,” Khan wrote. “The default mechanism of the lease has not been implemented in the 18 years the lease has been in effect. While we certainly take the default claim seriously, the only response we can make to your letter is to cure the claimed default. However, it is not possible to cure as we are in full compliance with the lease.
“Mayor, I hope you can understand that I am shocked and perplexed at the City’s actions. I am at a loss to understand the purpose of this drastic and unprecedented action. I am hopeful that the letter is as a result of an overzealous lawyer and not the result of the philosophy of your administration in dealing with the partnership between the City of Jacksonville and the Jaguars. We have sought to comply exactly with our lease obligations but the actions of the City lead us to believe you feel compliance with the lease is discretionary.”
Laquidara has come under fire recently with city councilwoman Kimberly Daniels calling for to either “restore the council’s confidence or resign,” the Florida Times-Union reported May 18.
The mayor's spokesman, David Decamp, and Laquidara were not immediately available for comment.

This city will never move forward with politicians like these....it just sad..

comncense

Supposedly they have rescinded the letter now. I haven't seen that printed anywhere officially yet though

copperfiend

I wonder if Brown even knew about the letter.

I am guessing this will be resolved quickly and the city will come out looking bad.

Rynjny

whats the point of the letter?? Plain STUPID!!

So glad COJ decided we don't want the Jags here.  Next on the agenda changing the name back to Cowford.

Seriously, did someone literally lose their mind!?!?  The lease is the only thing keeping the Jags here and not moving to LA.  That one move could cost this city billions of dollars (tax revenue, negative marketing for future businesses, revenue from games, business revenue....)

duvaldude08

You know what........ Her ass needs to be fired. Just STUPID

Agreed. More than an "Oops" moment. She was "unaware" of the amendment? Really? The mayor needs to do some serious damage control and find a replacement...quickly.

Elwood

On a more pleasant note, glad to see Andre Branch signed.

Tacachale

Brown withdrew the notice.
