Dunkin Donuts in negotiation for Main Street Springfield Location.

Apparently there is a real possibility of a Dunkin Donuts opening on Main Street in the near future.

After negotiations initially centered around purchasing and opening a location at the block between 1st and 2nd, the latest round of meeting has instead targeted the corner of 3rd and Main directly across from the Cesery Project.

More interestingly still is that the current plans include an option to do vertical development instead of a Dunkin Donuts standalone shop. In this configuration Dunkin Donuts would merely be the tenant of the ground floor, and the remaining floors would instead by residential.

The new location, expecially under this second configuration would be a tremendous leap forward for the neighborhood as it would create automatic energy between the Dunkin Donuts and the Cesery Project.

Maybe we'd finally get more JSO presence with the donuts so close by. Hey, whatever we have to do.

I would be willing to start a donut fund so they could get them for free!

Hopefully Stephen's untimely gossip will not kill this deal.  Large companies such as this prefer to work confidentially and they may be scared off by loose lips, especially if an area is on the margin as it is.

cindi

hopefully they will place themselves on the east side, as the west side is no man's land as far as law enforcement is concerned.
my soul was removed to make room for all of this sarcasm

Oh.  My.  God.  If anything will help Tom to heal, it's a Dunkin' Donuts.  He's been jonesing for one in SPR for like ever.  Maybe he can cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony. :)

Yeah, those Bostonians do love their Dunkin Donuts.

They are New Englands Starbucks. as I was driving from Bangor to Portland last week, I went though some of the most rural stretches that Maine has to offer... Dunkin was EVERYWHERE.

They were literally on every corner in Center City Philly, the last time I was up there.  So when is this project going to move forward?  Are they trying to coordinate their completion date with Cesery's project?

I spoke to the person who gave me (and stephen) the info. He said they don't have anything under contract, but that he feels it will probably happen and is ok with it being talked up now.

I wish they'd bring back the one on Roosevelt.  They just need to orient it so drive-through traffic doesn't back up into the travel lanes.

I love Dunkin Donuts, when I was in Boston they were everywhere.

I lived in Center City and it was AWESOME! I had a Dunkin Donuts right across the street from my apartment and chose Dunkin's over Starbucks (who was right across the street too!).
